Get the most out of your BOSS GT-100 by connecting it to your PA, audio interface, or guitar amplifier; including the '4-cable Method' which puts all the GT-100 effects and COSM amps in the correct order for best results when using or bypassing your guitar amplifier's preamp.

I wanted to be able to use a mix of sounds with my Blackstar Preamp and using the COSM amps....S/R On and Off .... Its a beautiful thing. Boss will sell a lot of these units just because of the flexibility and their understanding of what real guitarists need. You are the MAN.

This was a very useful demonstration of the GT 100 which i happen to own. I now know why the sound coming from my amp sounded kind of funky, i am in the front of a Fender Virbrolux that does not have a send and return on the back and i didn't know you need to turn off the BOSS preamp in the signal chain.

Thanks for making that so clear. Could you please make a video demonstrating how to get levels correct using a board (GT100) and amp? There are a lot of volumes to play with: Guitar Vol, GT100 input level, GT100 patch level, GT100 output, Amp pre-amp volume and gain then the master volume. Thanks.

Thanks, Roland for elucidating the uses of the four cable method. I was wondering, though, when you explained 'switching the GT-100 COSM Preamps and my amp' what you physically were kicking on the GT?? Little confused. Ernie Johnson,Thousand Oaks, CA.

Great video and explanation on 4 cable and OUTPUT SELECT, BUT, no mention on which OUTPUT SELECT to use in 4 cable method. I'm thinking that if I have the pre-amp in the GT100 turned off and using my amps pre-amp I should have it on COMBO AMP, JC-120, let's say, and, now I turn the GT100 pre-amp on, and the SEND/RETURN on, should the OUTPUT SELECT be on combo return? Or does it matter?

I love the dual amp tones from this unit. I recently bought mid-level studio monitors specifically for home practice using the dual amp feature. The only thing I do different is, instead of a 100 right and 100 left i go 85 right-85 left and it really seem s to fatten up the tone.

Im still using the GT100 in almost 2020 N i think im going to keep using this unit 4 a long time coz it really blows in terms of sonic achievements ...i also have a good old Zoom G9 which has tons of good tones thanks to its hybrid tube/solid state preamp section with two tubes (once they have been replaced with good ones)... But the Gt100 with its Dual Processing + an unbeatable PC interface (Tone-Studio) remains my Fav MultiFx unit -- Im doing this 4CM (kind of) with a ENGL 530 tube Preamp + stereo ENGL 840/50 Pow-Amp (3U rack head) i have the the ENGL preamp inserted into the GT100 S/R block N i can switch between channel on my preamp with an Ext. pedal using a TRS 1/4 jack cable (using the Ctrl Assign function) it works flawlessly i have also another tube preamp [Effectrode Blackbird] + an MXR 10 bands EQ inserted into the FX-loop of the ENGL preamp in order to get some more really cool colorations 4 my ENGL Clean N Crunch channels .....this is the best setup you could ever find so far.....

Video still relevant today--thank you! QUESTION: why (or is) the 4 Cable method better than, say setting output to Returns and sending L/R out from GT-100 directly to GA-212 A/B stereo inputs on the back of the amp? (you're still using the Preamp on the GT-100--and this is a mains in--it bypasses the preamp on the physical amplifier). Why would 4CM be better than this approach?

Es mejor cuando tu amplificador real es muy bueno y quieres seguir utilizando su preamplificador natural, si no es el caso no vale la pena en mi opinión.

First off excellent demo and thanks for the explanation of the Gt-100's wiring set-up's. Very helpful. Using the 4 cable method, your demo doesn't resolve the issue of changing the GT-100's "Output Select" from "Combo Return" back to "Combo Amp" when turning the S/R in the GT-100 on/off. I've tried to find a solution to this but there is none. The only way to change the "Output Select" is to change patches. You cannot change the "Output Select" within an individual patch. Boss missed this one.

Can anyone suggest a good tutorial series on how to use the GT-100 to the fullest? I have owned one for a long time but I am so new to playing guitar, I am somewhat overwhelmed. I think I need help with tone in general and all of the lingo/basics. Pedals and all are rather new to me, as a beginner. I just had to have this thing, but it is collecting dust and I want to get more into using it. Any help would be much appreciated.
