Got one of these right away. Really liking the tones. I want to see about other ways of connecting, including how to use a Looper pedal with it.

I've been using the NUX Mighty Plug Pro like this stereo cable to full range speakers for 2 years or so now as a practice rig and it is also great. But I am a long time Roland GP-100 owner and I gotta check this piece of gear out now.

4:09 I did it the opposite way, AUDIO first (like any regular BT device that plays back phone media/audio), then MIDI for the APP. Know why? Because the instructions are as clear as mud but the device is solid and intuitive 😂
@cirisirpula1529 ай бұрын
The Bluetooth setup screen on 1:51 clearly states that you should not have audio connected before setting up midi connection... I don't know how clearer they can say it.
@outermarker58019 ай бұрын
@@cirisirpula152 The in App setup screen is warning specifically about Bluetooth MIDI connection, not Audio connection. See the Katana GO pdfs from Boss for details about BT setup. You can plug and play your guitar along with your onboard or streaming music for as long as you like before downloading and connecting Tone Studio for finer control. Pretty much like the big amps in principle.

Thanks John. This unit is absolutely amazing considerng it offers the full blown Katana modelling engine in this nifty package. I don't think there is another platform, other than Katana, with so many amazing patches available for free (plus some fantastic cheap premium options from the likes of Juca Nery). I use Boss Katana Artist at home but then take the same tones to my guitar teacher or my gig buddy and just plug into their PA - sounds awesome.

Why didn’t they make this a class compliant usb interface so it would squirt guitar sounds straight into an Apple device? It’s crazy how Roland haven’t realised the demand for this yet - they’d sell millions!

i sold my waza air and replaced with this for a fraction of the price. Does what the air did and more (for playing its bass is much better, and the ability to record is a winner). Glad i did it before the price falls out of the waza air market.

I have the original NUX Mighty Plug and that concept of having to make two Bluetooth connections confused a few people. The NUX rather helpfully and simply lights two blue LED on the side to ammdga both Bluetooth connections have been made. Curiously on the NUX you also have to have your Mobile location setting set to on. I assume this is not the case with Katana Go? Or maybe you have it on by default on your phone? This looks great but would like someone to do a comparison to the NUX Mighty Plug Pro which is it's nearest competition. I'm discounting the Fender Mustang Micro as some people like the tones but the controls are a fiddle. At first glance the only oversight I can see from Boss is not including a drum machine or metronome which the NUX has. Having said that the at a glance tuner is a nice touch.
@KeithMilner8 ай бұрын
I think, on paper, the Nux MP-3 (which I also have) has a better spec. It has a microphone input and loadable IRs for a start. It also has the drum patterns and backing tracks built into the app (the backing tracks being similar to the Boss Session Mode). However, I'm still considering getting the Katana Go. From my experience of the Pocket GT, I somehow find the tones generally more satisfying on the Boss unit. I think the IRs on the MP-3 may make it a bit more "authentic" for a given amp model, as maybe a bit more characterful in some instances. But I tend to find the sounds a bit thin, especially with the FX. Also, I have experienced some occasional odd, almost warbly audio on the Nux, even with everything except the amp turned off. I also dislike the patch management and general UI on the Nux. I do like the screen for patch selection and tuner on the Katana Go as it makes it easier to use it without the app, which I generally prefer to do most of the time. The lack of drum machine is a bit of a shame, but the easy fix is to use a 3rd party drum app. I use Loopz. Once the phone is Bluetooth audio connected, you can use pretty much any audio app you like. I've also used things like Guitar Pro and IRealPro.

I had the Nux mighty send it back, anll amps sounded flat very digital, even with 3rd part cab rigs. I’m a huge Helix native user and I’m blown away how it is sounding, there is something about their modeling that is very organic sounding and it is super responsive to my playing. I’m looking for a device plug and play, could it be this the katan go or the line 6 pod express? Anyone can chime in for some suggestions?

I'm evaluating a Katana Go right now. It rocks as far as tones and versatility. Disappointed in the lack of true stereo effects like stereo or ping pong delay though... 😥
@NJ-Tech9 ай бұрын
there are stereo FX! loads, you just have to arrange them in the chain post the preamp and the you have everything in wonderful stereo. You even have two delays you can stack, both using stereo types.
@TechnoRiff8 ай бұрын
@@NJ-Tech I agree that there are effects that are named to imply that they are stereo such as Pan and Stereo Delays. However, when engaged, I don't hear any echoes that actually go left/right etc. With the Stage Feel Setting, the guitar output can be panned to a location between left and right - even this is limited to a narrow position.
@NJ-Tech8 ай бұрын
Yeah I see what you're saying but we can hope for an update. Either way for 120 bucks, it's delivering a lot, imo. I think, if we do get an update it might come along with the tone exchange in June/July. Hope so!
@TechnoRiff8 ай бұрын
@@NJ-Tech No doubt it's a great piece of kit for $120, and possible the best headphone amp at this time. Hopefully, true stereo can be added as a firmware update, rather than being limited by the underlying hardware. My 20 year+ old Korg Pandora even has real ping pong delay, so it can't be that hard.
@TechnoRiff8 ай бұрын
@NJ-Tech - It looks like true stereo effects only work with Stage Feel turned off. I've had this enabled since getting the unit and only now have experienced Pan and Stereo delay. Really wished this had been detailed in the manual and do hope Stage Feel support gets added in a future update. Thanks!

So, you found out like I did that the instructions are not very clear and it is therefore not very easy to get started. I am 64 years old and I said to my wife I need a 12 year old to work this out for me. Why oh why can nobody (except IKEA) produce instructions that are simple to follow? I almost gave up but I am glad I didn't because there are some good sounds in this device.

But my amp has blue tooth could I connect the Boss to my phone then connect my phone to my amp through blue tooth to hear what I’m playing instead of head phones? Interesting. The instructions say repeatedly "Do not connect to the MIDI device". That seems to be the only way to get it to connect. The Bluetooth connection is quite frustrating on these devices. I'm trying to work out a reliable way to consistently connect. I've spent hours and no luck. If you have an iPad/Iphone you may find you can't add files to the Session or the Librarian. This is a bug I hope the will work out soon, before I send it all back
