fun fact : they don't have skunks in Russia. We had a Russian man do a work-stay thing on our farm the summer of '91. One day he was calling " Here, kitty" to a skunk, trying to get closer to see it's unusual coloring ! Our other hired hand was dying laughing, could hardly control himself in time to stop him, as I heard about later.

The sign warning about phone zombies had me laughing so much that I almost fell on the floor. I once worked at the American Airlines Center arena here in Dallas, Texas as a security officer, and there was a guy who was one of those zombies, because he was so busy on his phone that he almost walked into the outside of the building, it had me cracking up!!

Have a phone zombie story of my own. I was a bus driver in Scotland years ago, and one of my shifts was in a courtesy bus that ran between the two major train stations and the bus station in Glasgow for transfer passengers. So one of the major problems was about people parking on kerbs at junctions, soo the city put up 3ft tall steel posts at the kerbline to stop this. On this particular day, not long after the posts were installed, I started to turn into the street where one of the train stations entrance is. Phone zombie walks straight off the kerb, forcing me to stop. I pressed the horn button. Nope he was too far gone. I just shrug and think 'ok he will be out of my way in a few seconds'. Having a ringside seat (so to speak) watching the phone zombie walking right into the three foot high post was a sight I think I will never forget. To this day I wonder if he would ever have been able to father kids.

Hey, the smartphone zombie sign is very relevant in today's modern societies. I very nearly hit and ran over a phone zombie in the entrance to a parking lot at night in the rain. I saw her at the very last moment and managed to miss her. She had stopped in the center of the entrance, totally engrossed in her phone, standing in the rain and the dark. I parked my car and walked back toward the entrance to catch my ferry boat and she was STILL standing there, tapping away, oblivious to the fact that she was in the center of both the sidewalk and the parking lot entrance. I finally approached, got her attention, and asked her "did you even see me drive past you? I nearly hit you. You're in the middle of the entrance lane". She looked up pretty startled and was completely unaware of her situation and surroundings. Then I got an "oh, I should move then". Yeah, you think?? LOL I was nice to her but my inner sarcastic voice was saying all kinds of things in my head. :D

The "sidewalk ends" signs are for the benefit of sidewalk plow operators who otherwise wouldn't know they were at the end of a sidewalk (when it's covered in snow) and might start plowing people's lawns instead. My neighbourhood had a bunch of them until all the houses had been built and the sidewalks were completed.
