Nathan talking about The Last of Us, and not wanting to kill the Fireflies, then there's just Joel stood in the background staring at him like, "I had to. They were going to hurt Ellie." I don't know why but it amuses me.
@Amaritudine7 жыл бұрын
When it come to 'The Last of Us', I'm not as conflicted as some folks. I always spare the unarmed surgeons, but as for the other Fireflies, I think Joel's stance was understandable, even if it's open to debate. Sure, the Fireflies thought they had a chance at finding a treatment for the infection - but at the same time, they were willing to kill the *only* person confirmed to be immune. In a matter of hours, they convinced themselves that there was absolultely no way they could learn anything while Ellie was alive, and decided that the only course of action was to kill her, extract her brain, and just hope it might teach them something new. That's the problem with the Fireflies. Dogmatically idealistic, and so accustomed to being brash freedom fighters that their default mindset is "kill first, consider asking questions later, but only if there's time". Ellie would've consented to prolonged medical tests and observation while they tried various approaches to understanding her immunity. But no; time and patience mean nothing to the Fireflies, so if you can speed things along by murdering a child, then that's just what you do at the first opportunity.
@AlleluiaElizabeth7 жыл бұрын
And at the very least they should have asked her consent. She was very self sacrificial. Would prolly have said yes. And it would have allowed Joel and her time to say goodbye. Lying was the nail in their coffin.
@ObsceneSociopath7 жыл бұрын
There's also the fact it's suggested in some of the hospital collectables that Ellie wasn't the first immune person they'd tried to get a vaccination from. I think it was an audio log & it alludes to but doesn't confirm that there are & have been others like Ellie but it ended in failure.
@medusathedecepticon5 жыл бұрын

NieR: Automata's colossus, Grun. When you play the second route, B, as 9S, you learn a little bit about the boss' backstory: Turns out, despite it being the size of Godzilla, and just as destructive, it has the mind of a child, and doesn't really understand what it's doing. To add to that, up to the point that you fight it, it spent centuries aimlessly wandering the bottom of the ocean, searching for the ones who had abandoned it, including its "mother", after it was discarded there.

for me it's Grigori in Dragon's Dogma especially if you do so on a second playthrough because then everything he say's makes so much more sense and you really get a grasp of the tragic situation he's in. He exists literally just for you to kill him as part of your test to replace "god" if you fail you're fated to replace him for the same purpose of testing the next arisen and that just feels weighty. Plus he's just a really cool character, The speech just before the last fight is a big bit of that.

I don’t know of the official reasoning, but “Big Boss” refers (or used to refer) to the final boss of a game - like how there are mini bosses, and stage bosses. I think the descriptor just stuck as his “name.” The worst part about killing The Boss is how the game won’t continue on until you shoot her! Then it spends the next 10 minutes telling you why it’s sad! I tear up every time during that final salute!

Vergil from Devil May Cry 3 (and to an extent, DMC1). I’ve always felt horrible about what happened to him. After defeating a certain jackass alongside him, the twins reunited and acting like real brothers instead of archenemies, that final fight is emotional napalm. It’s one of the best final boss fights ever, sure, but it grabs your heartstrings and pulls them like they’re the bells of Notre Dame. Then you have the cutscene where Dante tries to grab his brother, to stop him from falling into the abyss in a last-ditch effort despite Vergil’s own wishes, only to get sliced across the hand in a disciplinary swat. THEN, if you kill 100 demons during the credits, you get the secret cutscene. You get an exhausted, badly wounded Vergil charging off to challenge Mundus and you get that sickening sensation in the pit of your stomach because you just know what’s going to happen. Vergil gets defeated, brainwashed, and corrupted into the Nelo Angelo, which Dante has to fight and kill in the original DMC. In spite of everything, Dante still loved his big brother, and wanted to save him. And then he realizes that he’s unknowingly killed him, and what Mundus did to him. It’s a boss death that stretches over the course of two separate games, and the buildup is just as painful as the death itself because you can’t help wondering “what if.” What if Dante had grabbed Vergil and dragged him out of the Demon World. What if he had realized who the Nelo Angelo was. What if Vergil’s need for power and revenge hadn’t overwhelmed him. I absolutely love the DMC series, but the entire setup regarding Vergil’s death just destroys me.

I've got to agree with Hollie killing Sif was about the hardest thing I've had to do in videogames he/she(no one at FromSoftware has ever come out and Confirmed the gender so please don't argue with me) tries to keep you away from the abyss at all costs and you have no choice but to take his/her life to continue on your quest. Sif's and Artorias' deaths are what kept me coming back to Dark Souls although if I'm completely honest I still haven't finished the second game because mechanically I just don't like it as much as the other Souls games. In Dark Souls 3 once the Abyss Watcher's are felled I am the last the only one to carry on Sif and Artorias' sworn duty to stop the spread of the abyss I'm not just a Watchdog of Farron I'm the last Abyss Watcher. The one good thing that came out of it was a good story woven from the lore of the game as well as my own personal experiences in the game's world.

I'm a mess every time I get to the meadow in Snake Eater!! I was hoping Rob would choose that one! Though killing your own infected soldiers in MGSV is not easy either, and same goes for Liquid in MGS4 when you know it's actually also Ocelot 😭 I just love Ocelot too much!

Sephiroth in kingdom hearts. He's minding his own business when sora strolls in and says I'm going to kill you now.......then proceeds to get massacred by sephiroth for an eternity before finally beating him. Sorry that was my experience

Jose Vega To be fair, he was minding his own business, but he was doing it while looking seriously evil in a JRPG. That's the JRPG equivalent of wearing a sandwich board and begging a spiky haired protagonist to come kill you.

Sephiroth “My, that's an interesting sword you're carrying.” Donald: “It's the keyblade!” Sephiroth: “I see, so, that's the keyblade. And you must be it's choosen wielder.” Sora: “So, what if am.” Sephiroth: “I wonder if it will its change, once I've defeat you.” That exchange made Sephiroth started it. Before that, Sora just walked up to him and Sephiroth asked him “What is cloud doing?” and Sora just replied “Beats me.” and Sephiroth then drew his sword who are they, Goofy said he didn't think he should tell him, and then that exchange follows.

To his credit the say, there is only room for one boss in MGS1. They virtually call Boss to every descent of Big Boss.

The Ghost of the Ship captain in God of War 2. After kicking him down the throat of the hydra and kicking him down from the climb out of Hades, I felt bad that he, once again, got resurrected just for Kratos to kill him again. He is kind of like Agrajag from Hitchhiker's Guide.

In the Last of Us I remember thinking there's no need to kill the surgeon but couldn't get past so decided to first try to threaten with a gun and failing that, shoot him in the foot. Unfortunately a bullet to the foot turned out to be an instakill so it very quickly turned into a 'no witnesses' situation with the others. Did feel a little bit cheated though.

hollie used sif as an example from dark souls and while i totally agree, i think that there are a couple more bosses from dark souls that really didn't deserve That - namely, quelaag. amazing chest jokes aside, she's only where she is because she's trying to get humanity from the various undead warriors coming for the bell of awakening to cure her sister. that's it. so while sif is protecting his master's grave and trying to save you from the abyss by blocking the path, quelaag just wants her sister back. and every one of us who has finished dark souls just killed both of them because of some prophecy. monsters, the lot of us.

Yes, Hollie you face off against Sif in Darkroot Basin. Also you have to go there in order to gain Artorias' ring so that you can traverse the Abyss at the bottom of New Londo ruins. Yo FextraLife...hit me up!

Xion from Kingdom Hearts days would fit well here. With Vector to the Heavens playing in the background as you fight right in front of the place where the three friends bonded. And Xion shouting 'Stop holding back!'.

Star Duster agreed. The only other piece from the kingdom hearts that brings tears to my eyes, is the other promise (roxas’s theme) from the fight against roxas in the world that never was.

I thought they did reference "the Boss" in MGS1, but it's referring to Liquid Snake. Ocelot mentions you're maybe as good as the Boss, doesn't he? Idk I feel some of the villains called Liquid that.

Pedro Martinez he's a Daemon by the time you fight him, the only thing left of Ravus is the twisted form the Daemon takes so I don't think that really counts especially since someone else clearly killed him before the fight triggers

Wesker. They could have had him slink off at the very last moment to appear in little cameos in dlcs or whatnot (you dont have to stick him in the main game if youre sick of him, devs. we'd still eat up any little afterthoughts like that) but nope, the make you kill him in a very difficult way to wrangle around....
