I had set up a street outreach program for a health department. One of the employees was gay and had a desk in a cube farm with a number of nurses. He was watching porn on the computer and nurses walking by could see it. They complained to their supervisor, who asked me to accompany me to his cubicle. We cranked up his computer and I clicked on one of the pages in the history, and sure enough, it was porn. We fired him and he issued a complaint for discrimination. We had a phone hearing, and he admitted that he was watching porn. The judge asked him what he expected would happen and closed the hearing. Another agency had just fired a dozen heterosexual men for watching porn, so the discrimination argument flew like a lead balloon.

My sister was in charge of the life guards at the leisure centre she managed. My sister is a hard worker and dedicated to life guard training because she knows that if you don't do your best people die. One time there was a life guard that seemed off...but nothing obvious so no body thought too much about it. Until there was a child drowning in the pool and, according to my sister, he just watched. Didn't attempt any rescue. Just watched this kid in distress. Another life guard spots this and rescues the kid so the child is okay. And the life guard was fired on the spot.

The alcoholic machinist one is actually pretty sad. Alcohol can totally wreck your life so bad, and it's an addiction, though largely a societally approved one. Something probably happened that made him fall off the bandwagon again, and of course losing his job again and having to deal with all that probably made it worse for a while. I hope he gets the help he needs to really kick the addiction and keep himself away from alcohol in the future and straighten out his life.

Worked at a theme park and a colleague was fired because he'd go on 'smoke breaks' or 'toilet breaks' and not come back, he would smoke in non-smoking areas and he would even stand inside ride areas, not in the ride booth because 'it was okay, you know me' which was definitely not allowed. He was not there for long at all.

fast-food location on a college campus so staff is mostly early 20's but sometimes have teenagers. this one high schooler was *special*, the only person in the 2 years i've been there to get fired. - he was half-black but looked white, and was saying the n-word at the counter well within earshot of customers. - the first friday night he worked he was clearly getting overwhelmed and complaining about the rush we were in, i went back and let the manager know we should probably put him on a prep task in the back before it got worse. i come back and he looks at me and loudly says "GOD I WISH I COULD FOCUS BUT THERE ARE ALL THESE SCANTILY CLAD WOMEN AROUND!" .... i proceed to look past the counter and the most risque people I can find are a couple girls in tank tops. - he asked me if i thought he could "pull a college girl"... i told him probably not. - he asked someone about if a coworker was single and was informed that she's a lesbian, he then says "UGH why is it ALWAYS THE GOOD ONES?" - final straw was right after we finished closing when he wanted to take home a gallon of milk for cereal the next day. the manager (who was also the assistant GM) told him no, he started screaming and cussing him out. this is the only time i've seen this guy get angry at someone and he told the rest of us to go home. he later said it took 40 minutes to get this kid calmed down, terminate him, and get the paperwork processed.

A new manager hired by the company we worked for. He stepped in with his new ideas, which included reusing the coffee grounds, not discarding stale food, not wasting our time with all that cleaning. Yep, he was coming in with new ideas. He seemed to also have the idea that staff were his personal attendants and that customers were his dating pool. The very icon of a person who has so much more money and family ties than he has competence in the workplace. We bit our lips and tried to make it work. The temptation to call him in was REAL. He was there for about a month; disappeared without comment and was never mentioned again. Money doesn't give you management or business skills. Wisdom is not passed on genetically.

He used an email address that contained * his own name * for the ebay account and his name was the company name. Criminal Genius right there lmao

(TLDR at the end) When I worked at a pizza restaurant, we had 2 guys (S and J) get fired the same week for very obnoxious reasons. For context, S and J started working there at the same time and had only been there for a couple weeks. Neither were good at their job and no one really liked them, but we were short staffed so we took what we could get. One day that I was working as a server, we had about 8 different groups walk in within 5 minutes during the after-church lunch rush, on top of the couple tables that were already there. The other server, S, sat his tables in the front, and I sat mine in the back. As I was returning to the drink station after taking my customers' orders, his tables stopped me to ask where their server was and why he hadn't even given them menus, let alone taken their order. I asked S about this, and he said, "What tables?" I pointed to his tables, "Those tables right there in front." He again asked, "What tables??" I pulled out the table map, "These tables! The ones right in front that you can see from where we are standing right now!" This went back and forth a couple more times before he said, "Oh honey, you just don't know what you're doing! I'm not going to take this bullshit, fuck y'all!" He walked out, leaving me with around 10 relatively large tables to tend to by myself. I walked over to his boyfriend, J, and asked what his problem was, and this motherfucker says, "Oh, S is just in a bad mood today because he soiled himself when he got to work." S fucking pissed his pants at work, was handling people's food while having piss pants which is fucking disgusting, and took it out on me. He was fired when the GM was notified that he walked out. A few days later, J was also fired. He was training to be a shift manager, but we all knew that he wasn't fit for the job. He was so disorganized and basically refused to learn how to do any of the positions, which shift managers were required to learn in case we needed help. His shift started with him calling a very obviously female coworker, the shift manager who was training him that day, "sir," which on its own isn't too big a deal, mistakes happen. He was also being belligerent and rude to both customers and employees. Then we started noticing that he was slurring his speech and stumbling a bit. When he walked through the kitchen (i was working kitchen that day), you could see each cook cringe one by one as he passed because J smelled like he literally took a shower in vodka. The kitchen lead asked if we smelled it too to confirm his suspicion, and of course, we did. The kitchen lead went to the GM and told her what happened. He was fired and sent home on the spot. TLDR: S was fired for pissing his pants at work (a biohazard, especially when handling people's food) then getting mad at me and walking out because I asked him to do his job. A few days later, J was fired for being absolutely wasted at work and berrating both customers and employees.

On story 15 about the narcissistic assistant manager -- narcissists don't really care about things the same way normal people do. It differs from narcissist to narcissist, but I would wager that this particular narcissist got his kicks from people feeling bad that he had to work for such a backwards thinking, horrible boss. It probably didn't matter to him whether the job went under or not -- why? Because it adds to his sob story either way. If the job continues, he has to keep working for this bigot. If the business goes under, oh woe is me, I'm out of work because no one wants to do business with a bigot, if only my boss had been a better person, I wouldn't be unemployed. When considering why a narcissist does what they do, you need to look for what benefit they get from their actions. A narcissist never does something that isn't directly for their benefit. If it doesn't look like they are getting something from an interaction, then they just aren't getting what most people would want from that same interaction. (source, was raised by a narcissist)

As a previous Kirby vacuum salesman I quit after a month. They forced me to wake up at 8am every morning and I wouldn't be home until 9pm. The only day we didn't work was Sunday. We'd go door to do selling Kirby and the promise was 10 percent commission with 525 every week thrown on top. Every week there was some problem with what I did that only BARELY gave me the commission (I sold 11 in that month) which wasn't much the first week. I was making less than minimum wage so I quit. When I asked about my last check which would have had about 500 dollars he just blocked me. I didn't even care, I just wanted to keep away from that backwater company. I have many more Kirby horror stories if anyone is interested lol

(First In First Out.) He would lie all the time. He said his year old daughter changed the password to his phone. and blamed his mom and daughter. and when I told home to take responsibility he said I did I bought a new one. He gave me a ride home one time and I had to try and give directions without talking or using my hands. and His last day he asked what NPO meant. and that is 6 months of work. we learn that on day one.

Was acting 2nd manager at the branch of an inventory company I worked for for several years. Had a really satisfying firing even if I wasn't the one directly responsible for the firing, had a worker who was notoriously lazy. Well one night our branch is helping out another branch in our downtime, and it's winter so he's wearing a stocking cap, well the store we're preforming an inventory for has a policy regarding hats. They call a friend of mine who was the one actually running the event to ask him to have the individual remove his hat, he call me on a radio since he's one of my employees not his, so I relay the message he's tells me (in much more colorful language) to get lost. I inform my friend that he won't remove the hat, he says ok if the store says something again we'll address it further. About an hour goes by sure enough the store makes another comment. My friend lets me know and I try asking again, he again tells me to get lost and he won't remove it for anyone. At this point I know there isn't anything more I can do, so I call my friend ask him to meet up with me to discuss not over the radio, explain the situation and explain with him being the person responsible for the event it would be better if he had the worker leave (which we both agreed would be the best solution). So my friend goes over to address the situation starting with asking him to remove the hat, worker goes on an absolute tirade, so when my friend tells him to clock out and leave the building the worker gets even more irate and starts threatening him. My friend gets his phone out and dials 911 and tells the employee to leave or the cops would be involved and they could remove him. Worker finally leaves while hurling more insults and threats including but not limited to claiming he had a firearm he was going to use against my friend. My friend has an email typed out to HR before he's even clocked out. The employee was perma banned from working for the company due to firearm threats. It was already a long enough story to get into further details as to why is was such a satisfying firing for me but let's just say I had history with this individual and he had been a thorn in my side trying to help run that team for a while, plus before I even started helping run the team I'd had problems with him.

I was technically a boss, but had to fire 2 people from 1 job: 1. She was to be working both as the breakfast attendant and as the laundry person. With the laundry room a little bit away from the breakfast room, I could understand if at times she wasn’t always on top of breakfast (at least not until it had ended at 10 am and it was to more clean the breakfast items while waiting for dirty laundry from the housekeepers). However, at times she would hide herself in the business center (more of a cubbyhole with a computer and a printer) so this would lead to the previous manager or myself having to restock something for the breakfast while we were also taking care of check out guests and having things ready for the pool, hot tub and fitness room. Well, one July she goes on vacation to her home country of Egypt 🇪🇬. She was originally just be there for a month. Well a month passes and we hear no word from her, and we’re wondering whether she has a sick or dying family member, has been detained by the new government (just after the coup) or whether a flight has been delayed. After over 2 months with no responses or any idea where she has been, she comes back and tries to reclaim her hours. The #2 overall in charge and I tell her that’s not possible due to having 2 people already for her position, so she’ll have to get hours from a different schedule. She brings in her husband the next day to force us to give her back her schedule, but we don’t budge, letting her know that her bad work ethic and this behavior in regards to her trip were unacceptable, so she either had to accept things on our terms or she would be fired. Last I knew, she’s more of a nanny. 2. A guy was hired to work night audit a few nights a week (I was mainly given overnights due to 1. My work ethic (between getting guests their receipts under their doors, taking care of trash, laundry, the pool and hot tub, the fitness room, ordering supplies, making sure things were set to the brand standards, audit reports, and the breakfast, I was the main front desk person keeping the hotel running) 2. I was one of the few holdovers after ownership got switched. Well, the gentleman who was hired like to 1. Focus more on surveys than the job during the overnight cause A. He couldn’t fold laundry. B. Had no clue how to take care of the pool or hot tub. C. Could only do limited parts of the breakfast (meanwhile I could have almost everything ready for 7 am breakfast by 6:30 am). He said “Well I’m making up to $30 a week on surveys” (Dude, if you did your job properly, you could make that in 3.5 hours of work). 2. His customer service skills were hit or miss. One time, both the #2 overall and I were in agreement that because of certain stipulations, a certain guest wouldn’t receive an additional discount. I later find out that not even 24 hours later, the guy has given the guest the additional discount. We have a meeting with him and said that he was intimidated by the guy, and we told him then why didn’t he call a manager. He got ticked off and then didn’t show up to work for a week. When he did show back up, he was fired the next morning. About 2 years later, working at a different property, I see his name as an applicant for a similar job where I work at. I tell the owner that I’m rejecting the guy due to my experiences and the owner agrees. I proceed to tell the guy he’s not hired and the guy proceeds to get on an expletive laden rant, so we tell him he’s blacklisted and any further contact will result in cops being called on him.

Obligatory not a business owner but i work with the owner. We had an employee who was hired to drive pizza around. He doesn’t like working slightly later than he was scheduled (the status quo was you stay until we arent busy, he agreed to that) and i guess after being asked to do his job enough he texts another driver “man i wish (owner) would stop working me like a (n-word hard R).” other driver shows it to owner and he loses it, guy is immediately fired and even tries to claim unemployment.

That drunk guy reminded me of what a relative deals with at a machine shop he works at. The company often ends the work day early in order to hold drinking parties, at the company, and some of those guys drive a reeeaaallly long way to get home. Well, a guy has already had 2 car crashes on his way home from these work drinking parties, and he lives the closest to the company out of all of them. The company has A LOT of screwy practices going on that make shit sense, they barely sell anything because its all screwed up from start to finish, everything that needs to go right goes wrong, and more than half of the people there don't know what the fuck they are doing even though it's their life long profession. Oh, and most of these guys are old, unhealthy, etc. so its not like they are young and stupid or anything like that, they have wives, kids, responsibilities that they've had for decades. Almost nobody ever gets fired though, in fact, the company just keeps hiring more of those nutso people. My relative doesn't drink with them though and he's one of the best guys there is, but he stays because he needs the job. You'd be surprised how many machining companys just suddenly go out of business, but not because they were like the company i just described. They just went bankrupt and stopped being able to pay their workers. So my relative has gone through a lot in that industry just because of all the shitty companies there are, im not even going to mention all the stories he's told me about workplace accidents and shit. (A quick summary is, people can indeed die from pure stupidity and equally stupid decisions that were done ON PURPOSE. It is not for the faint of heart. - Warning: gruesome ahead. - You think, oh you just have to program a computer, turn on this machine, follow these instructions, and repeat, it's so easy a child could do this stuff... until you have to pick out the body parts of your coworker from the machines, or watch a guy bleed out from losing his limbs because he slipped. The nicest one was a guy had a heartattack during a meeting and no one noticed because it happened so quick.)

Man I used to work for a momNpop and those two were horrible to everyone especially customers, narcissistic to the extreme believing people would put up with it just because they're so awesome, plus they used the business as a weapon against eachother in their marriage! Smh, only good part about that job was watching karens get shut down by those jerks.

Dude crashes into cars so much in this game that he now crashes THROUGH them. No one harmed, not even the cars. Not ranking on him, as I'm just as bad if not worse. 😂🤣 Also, on story 18, fumbling around with my Pokémon cards to relieve anxiety. I feel called out lmao. If they mention Squishmallow in any of these stories, I'm out. Dead.

2:32 that story isn't true IMO. ADA protects coming to work drunk under addiction. My last job had a really hard time firing a guy who was a wino because of this. Also the employee is correct, you cannot tell them what they can or cannot do during their lunch off the premise (my last job tried to write up another guy for it and it became a huge HR thing). EDIT: I'm making the assumption this is an American story so I should consider it might not be.

I worked in a call center for a very large bank. We handled customer service for the larger accounts. One day police officers and the FBI came in. One of the employees had been writing down credit card numbers of clients and using them for making online purchases. I think she had even transferred money from a couple of accounts to her account. Our computers were always monitored and security cameras were everywhere so they had a ton of evidence! They handcuffed her right there at her work station and walked her out. I wasn’t there that day but everyone was stunned and I can’t imagine how she could think she’d ever get away with it!
