As a single mama with no support facing homelessness, I appreciate this so freaking much. Newly sober and the emotions (mostly anxiety and fear) are terrifying No idea how I’m gonna pay the car this week and that’s the only thing I’ve got that we can atleast sleep in if we need to. I just want to give my daughter so much more she deserves that. I feel so trapped without support for childcare from family. Thank you for always being a positive face for me, and helping me hold onto the tiny piece of hope I have left

Yes!! My planner & any type of thing to keep me organized has to be fun & interesting to me & give me some sort of Dopamine to my brain simply because of my ADHD, otherwise I’ll have no interest in it & feel totally overwhelmed by it! Literally live by my planner & my reminders app & a brain dump notebook for random thoughts/ideas that pop in. I’ve found that digital combined with having something to write in is the best method for me, otherwise I end up with a pile of random papers and tear outs to sort through that overwhelms me and I carry everywhere.

I still use my digital calendar, but I require physical lists for my brain. Hi Abbey :) I love when you pop up on my suggested videos. Just seeing your face puts me at ease lol! You’re so kind and inspiring. I really look up to you as an older sister or something. In the last year I graduated college and moved back in with my parents. My boyfriend has been struggling financially for a very long time, and has four kids with his ex. The oldest two live with us now, and see their Mom every weekend at the very least. Although they aren’t my kids and I don’t know what it’s like to have a motherly perspective, I try so hard to make sure they’re loved and comfortable and happy and taken care of. Sometimes it does just feel like babysitting though. I love them, but I do honestly sometimes miss the days where I could just come home and not have to do anything. Especially when I’m depressed, it’s so hard to take care of myself let alone a 7 and 8 year old. My boyfriend does all he can but he doesn’t struggle with mental health very much and it’s hard for him to understand sometimes. I don’t mean to be trauma dumping or anything- I just figured I’d share a little since hearing other people’s stories and current struggles helps me not feel so alone. None of my friends can really relate to this craziness! Abbey, thank you for all you do. Your channel feels like a safe space and oh my god why am I tearing up right now. Ugh. You’re so inspiring and I know I’m not alone when I say you help all of us feel like what we’re going through and feeling is VALID. I’m currently seeing my therapist every week and have been trying to keep up with my to-do list and planner. This video is a great kick in the butt. At least it’s Friday! If you’re reading this, you are going to be okay. Baby steps! ❤

To cover yourself, because I know you mean well by sharing the tools you’ve picked up along the way and put in your toolbox, etc…with your journey to sobriety and recovery…since you’re not a mental health professional, I would just state that and make it clear that the things that you state are things that work for you, that you are not giving medical advice, that kind of stuff. @abbeyfickley Жыл бұрын
I’ve been there. I totally understand having to tap into the savings. You feel like you’re going in a circle, not getting ahead at all. It’s OK if you have to take money out. As long as you continue to do it every week or month. I’m telling you, it’s the habit! It’s OK if you have to take some of the money out for bills! 🫶🏽 (btw, I still have to pull money out of my savings. I just did it today.) 😆
@humm23 Жыл бұрын
The idea of getting in the habit of saving just a little then building up that amount over time is VITAL. I started investing at 18. I worked 5 jobs while going to college, I was saving $100 a month. It was all I could do. I finished college, worked a big girl job, and when we had our kid, we ran numbers and daycare and the cost of working was going to be my entire salary + $3600 a year. But because we were saving that turned into investing, we were able to adjust our life style a bit, and I was able to retire. Our investments were making my salary. It has been the best thing ever. I will say it has been pretty simple, but not easy. Everything is a choice. Understanding money and how it works is such a badass move that will create wealth.

I really wish sometimes you would make videos about your maintenance. I'm making pure speculation right now but one of your videos I watched I saw the biggest prescription bottle that is handed out at CVS in Walgreens which is used to keep Suboxone strips in when you don't get a box of 30 from the brand, CVS or Walgreens will put Suboxone strips in the largest orange tube that they use and I seen that behind you in one of your videos and I believe I saw a suboxone film in the packaging resting on your desk it was hard to see because of the glare and Suboxone film packaging is shiny. I don't want to call you out or anything but I'm just making a guess. And if it's true I would love to hear your thoughts on maintenance therapy and stuff because I'm on Subutex and I think I'm a lifer and I'm just curious if you are on a maintenance program, how you see it working in your life how you see it long-term etc
