I'll never forget this series! Before it started, I remember saying that the Yankees would win at least 3 out of the 5 games and extend the division lead. Once we won the first three games, I told myself it would be epic if the Yankees would sweep the entire series. Once the series ended, my brother (who's a Yankee fan and lives in Massachusetts) told me that no one at work wanted to talk to him for a while since all of his co-workers are red sox fans. Later on, when school started again for me, I found out on the first day that one of my professors is a red sox fan. The first thing I asked him is how much he liked this 5 game sweep. He didn't want to talk to me for a month lol.

As a Yankee fan, I don't feel anything can undo the sting of 2004. It was unprecedented, it happened to us, and it was done by Boston. Given the enormous disparity of success between the respective franchises, it was more than likely that only something of that magnitude could sting us permanently. Boston will always have that: and it's a big one.
@vladiator81205 жыл бұрын
Beating them again in an ALCS like in 1999 and 2003 will definitely erase most of any lingering sting imo. The Yankees erased a lot of the sting by winning the division in 2005 at Boston and then in 2006 swept them in this 5 game series, burying their chances of making the playoffs.

The problem with the 2005-2007 Yankees (not to mention the 2010-2012 Yankees) was all this lumber would up and vanish in the post-season. Cano especially was a consistent post-season no-show, and other than 2009 A-Rod was consistently bad.

I was 9 years old in 78, and the Yankees came back from 14 games behind at the all star break. In that Boston massacre the Yankees were 4 back. They needed all 4, and they beat the Red Sox 42 to 9 in that 4 game series. And then of course they beat the Sox in the one game playoff at the end of the season on Bucky Dent's homer. It was awesome. The greatest comeback of all time.

Love it! I hate Boston fans so much, I would root for a team loaded with communists or nazis against the Red Sox (or Bruins, Celtics and Patriots)!!!

I’m an all Boston fan, but why do people hate us? Except for the old grandma and grandpa Boston fans all of us are really nice and are very loyal, tbh I hate LA fans the most just of how cocky and disloyal they are

I remember the Yankees winning the same number of World Series that year as the Sox and the Sox winning it next year.
