Head for the other side
Leave it all behind
Never change my mind
Going to sail away
Sun lights another day
Freedom on my mind
Carry me away for the last time
Oh yeah

Tom Schultz was never given his Justice as a guitar player..... But it wouldn't be Boston without the rest.... I'm 63 years old and I want this entire album played at my funeral is loud as the PA will allow.... It's left an indelible mark on my soul...

Since 1976, I've been a Boston fan. Since then, I've always maintained that Brad Delp was one of the top 5 rock & roll singers of all time. What range. I miss you.

My mom (an aging baby boomer) and I (a millennial, unfortunately) like to go for long drives together when there's nothing else to do. "Hitch a Ride" gets played a lot on our local classic rock station, and i have many happy memories associated with the song. I hope Mama knows how much I love her!

For the 406 people that gave this a thumbs down either your confused and hit the wrong button or you have no idea about pure music talent cause this band had that and the singer is a once in a generation talent, his voice was like an instrument for him, not many people had as much talent in singing that he had, his Beatle cover band was a testament to the versatility he had

When I am about to take my last breath, I want to hear the words “Carry me away for the last time” and then have the acoustic guitar solo begin my journey to Heaven and ride that electric guitar solo all the way up to the promised land and then slow down to the acoustic ending as I approach the gates to St. Peter

I miss you so much papaw, and I'm the fan you influenced me to become. You hardly ever said too much about any band's unique sounds, but you always said Boston is better with every listen. I couldn't agree more, and they open up a bit of the densely blackened emotions and give way to light. I bet you're up there rolling stones, and telling some guy, "Hey, you, get off of my cloud!"

Life is like the coldest winter People freeze the tears I cry Words of hell their minds are into I've got to crack this ice and fly Just so nastolgically pleasing. I hear it "I hitch a ride" back to 1976 when this album was released and life was simple. I cranked this album so many times that I lost count. Awesome album. One of the top five ever produced.

I've always loved Boston, and this is my favorite song. I'm 64 and lost a friend not along ago who loved Boston, too. Bob Crable, the former New York Jet, is from my hometown. He used to listen to the entire Boston album/catalog before all games at Notre Dame and Moeller -- and probably as a Jet -- for motivation.

Tom could not digitize his music and cut & copy parts and put them where he wanted to. He had to play all the parts and double track them on his own and put them manually where they need to go, all analog. The sound and tone is amazing and I believe thy were the first band to use chorus on the tracks, which makes it even bigger sounding. Tom Schultz is the Man!

I can picture him walking backwards down a lonely road, thumb in the air. The melody has a relaxed, carefree feel. Scholz's lead guitar plays intuitively with the melody, hitting those sweet notes and harmonizing smartly and artfully.

This song is the best song on the album for me. I remember being at Padre Island and my husband and I were just a couple years into our marriage (probably 87 or 88) we were so young. We rented a little VRBO …. We actually rented it twice over the years. Anyway we could look out the window and walk across the street and the beach was right there. It’s not that way anymore. Anyway we were at the beach with our boombox that played cassette tapes and we played Boston all day long .That day this beautiful Irish setter dog came up to us and he stayed with us for the rest of the afternoon. We have pictures of me in the water with him. We wanted to take him home with us, but when our day ended, he went on his way. Every time I hear this song I think of that day. ❤️

This was their best track EVER. NOTHING compared to this amazing track featuring great lyrics, vocals, drums and that smokin' hot guitar solo outtro...nothing compares. Not only their best track, but easily in my Top 100 all-time songs. I say 100 because I know some equally impressive tracks. Any of us with more than 20 years of musical history know what I'm talking about. I'm grateful that I got to meet Brad Delp and Barry Goudreau in 1992 when I was 20. when they toured with their spin-off band, RTZ. Brad was disarmingly humble and friendly.

Sib's drumming...so many different modes and colors over the course of a standard-length pop song. He transitions so seamlessly from one to the next, it's like shifting gears on a ten-speed. It fits the song so well, that it's easy to miss how truly brilliant it is.

Indeed perhaps one of the very best albums ever produced at the time. When I listen to this song, I am thirteen again, in love with a girl that didn't even know I existed, living life at WC Public School. A time of confidence and early life growth. All I need to do is listen to this song and I am back there. Like the song "More than a Feeling" (also on the same album), "I hide in my music and forget the day; I dream of the girls I used to know, I close my eyes and I slip away"....

To make a long story short, when I was feeling close to the end, I pulled up this song and played it as loud as I could because I was ready to head for the other side. I could vision myself swiftly moving through the clouds towards my final destination on the purest of sunlight beyond belief.
