I have almost cried telling a Walmart worker at checkout that I changed my mind about buying something because my total was more than I expected, and I felt bad for inconveniencing them by making someone have to put it back. Idk how he can do this shit.

As a retail worker who runs around putting things back a lot of the time (albeit in a smaller store in a walmart) i can tell you I don’t mind it-that’s part of the job, (and easy) and as long as you’re a nice and respectful customer it’s all good

i wanna triple down and say as a former cashier, if you can't afford something that is fine. we are probably in the same boat as you, budget wise! just stay polite and kind, but don't beat yourself up for inconveniencing people when it truly was not your intention. think about it like this - it'd be WAY more inconvenient for you to get out of line and put it back yourself, whereas we usually have a schedule for putting stuff back. you've actually made the workers' days easier by leaving that item at checkout where we know it is vs leaving it on a random shelf :) sorry i have anxiety too when shopping but gosh you're probably the kind of customer where we're all like 'ah yeah they're nice. nice to see them today,' and you should know that. :)

Pranks are funny when they're actually pranks. A prank is supposed to make the other person feel foolish in a kind of good-natured way. Watch clips from that "Just for Laughs" show to see actually funny pranks, which include people building a boardroom set around the entrance of a port-a-potty when someone is in there, or asking a stranger to take a photo of them only for the person getting their picture taken to literally become a different person when someone distracts the prankee, and then at the end the people point out the cameras and everyone has a good laugh. No employees are bothered, nobody's harassed, nobody's hurling slurs at random dudes on the beach.

What a well timed video, for me personally lmfao. First thing, thanks for another great video Jarvis! Your good heart and measured takes are much appreciated! Without giving too much detail, I just had some freaks come into my work the other day and try to secretly film a ~doing weird sexual shit with my “sister” video~ and it made me so FUCKING uncomfortable that I had to work with them and deal with this shit. Told them filming and photography wasn’t allowed there (which it isn’t), told them to keep my identity out of it multiple times, and they denied everything, and now i gotta try to get whatever video they put together of it taken down from this fuckhead’s channel of over 250k subscribers cuz I don’t wanna be on the fucking internet being tested and made uncomfortable on purpose with some weird ass sexual shit that I can’t escape as a service worker. Hoping the copyright infringement involved is enough for my employer to make the dipshit take it down. So glad I wear a face mask at work so I’m at least a little shielded, but I’ll never be the same. Luckily dude gave me his full name as was like “I have a podcast!” so that I could look up his channel lmao. It was so goddamn uncomfortable, and SO obviously bullshit. Had to deal with it totally alone on a busy ass day at work. It’s a violation of the people you subject to your “pranks” (especially when you make it sexual) and an *absolute* waste of your life. Like imagine doing this shit for a living/hobby, imagine wasting peoples time and making people feel uncomfortable and afraid on PURPOSE, and thinking you’re GIVING something to the world. Imagine thinking this shit is worth anything. It’s so sad. Such a goddamn shame, I’d be so embarrassed if that was the life I created for myself. Maybe it’s a nice reality check for those of us who doubt our value and purpose in the world lol. Even if you’re doing literally nothing in your community/the world, you’re certainly doing better than this guy is. (And I mean that sincerely. I’m of the opinion that someone sitting in a basement doing nothing except maybe giving a friend/family member a smile once in awhile has value and is important and good as they are. I think every life inherently has value, and these prankester fucks are purposely making sewage out of their lives and dumping it out the window to let it rain on the innocent people walking by on the street.) Also just want to note that although this was a SEVERELY uncomfortable, creepy, (and illegal!!) situation, I’m okay and never felt like I was in immediate danger. I wish it was someone a bit tougher and less forgiving that was working that day bc maybe they would noticed and stopped the bullshit sooner and better than I did, but I am ok and -although I am likely going to be exploited on the internet in ways I am SERIOUSLY not ok with- I didn’t feel afraid for my life or traumatized during the event. Just violated and fucking ANNOYED. PEOPLE ARE SO FUCKIN STUPID IT HURTSSSSS

Ive worked in retail for a little over a year now and ive been screamed at, had a rubber snake thrown at me and ive been physically grabbed while being recorded for these “pranks”. The first time I was two days fresh out of the hospital for mental health issues. Luckily our security is really good and nice but I dont know whyyyyy people find this kind of attention good?? Especially because we ALL have to go to work.

Jeez... That's awful. I worked in retail a long time ago, long before tiktok and pranksters were a thing. I can't imagine how it must feel to be on the receiving end of one of these "pranks". I'm sorry this happened to you!

As someone ACTUALLY in school to be a LICENSED professional counselor (which won't happen until after passing an exam and thousands of hours of supervision), this pisses me off!!!! I don't know who this man is, but thank goodness he's being exposed.

When working in retail, the second I realized someone was trying to play the social game to make a fool out of me I figured out that I was 100 percent untouchable if I simply stopped responding and just looked at them with a gentle smile, like you might at a puppy who pissed the floor in public. I wish they taught this technique in retail tbh. I was once the target of a similar work prank back when pranks were bigger - the idea was to ask for something super embarrassing really loudly and try to transfer the embarrassment onto the person being pranked. Some kid asking about cream for their genital warts and then asking follow up questions that made no sense so I hit the kid with the gentle "aw did puppy go pee pee" smile for a solid 5 minutes before they got angry and stopped recording.

Yeah you just “play dumb” / “kill them with kindness.” Worked wonders for Marylin Monroe when she dealt with rude people (she was secretly a genius but unfortunately back in her time women weren’t really valued for intelligence).

If I was a HD manager I would tell him, “Sir if you’d like to look at the inside of our dryer until was close in 7 hrs… feel free to do so” Then I’d tell the store employees not to say anything or engage with him. Like a toddler throwing a tantrum, just let it play out. He’ll get bored, stop and leave.

Genuinely such a Karen move to call someone else a Karen for not putting up with your BS. Harmless, small pranks involving people that you know well can be funny, but this sorta stuff is just so cringe and pointlessly bothering people who just want to get through their day in peace.
