That reminds me, I got a suggested thing on Amazon the other day BOTOX, all caps, as made it look like they were selling bootleg Botox...now in the early days of Amazon, I would occasionally see shady sellers listing bootleg medications and Rx from other countries. So I clicked, prepped to send a lead to a consumer reporter...it just was some scammy Temuesque product ..😂. But you are absolutely right. If any product has that kind of efficacy, it would first be an actual RX. If it was deemed safe to sell OTC it would be down the road (Advil, Aleve, Prilosec...many examples) Not just for safety, but for money. Drug patents are short. (I work in the pharma industry)

There’s a bunch of people using this now as of 2023, and it’s been popping up online in beauty posts since 2021. I am sure you’re going to see it everywhere this year. The line I carry uses sponge extract and sponge spicules from a specific fresh water sponge for aging, and specific ocean sponges for acne. Myself and my clients are seeing amazing results. It really does work amazingly, but how well other brands work I couldn’t tell you. I know hers is top notch, and ethically sourced, plus it’s hand made in small batches direct at order. Elina Organics. We’ve been using sponge spicules for the last few years, funny to see this is a huge thing now, as it should be! It’s a great alternative.

For me, I would fall under the hyperactivity part. I regularly am frowning my eyebrows and it causes my forehead to be sore which develops into a headache or migraine if I don't relax it. The muscle contraction for me could either be vision related, stress related, or concentration related but there are various reasons that someone may be having alot of tension in the forehead. I also will get soreness and headaches from squinting from sun exposure or trying to keep my eyes shut when sleeping. Botox helped me tremendously and I no longer get soreness and headaches and it does lasts for months but as soon as it starts wearing off, my forehead is back to getting sore, tense and getting headaches so regular upkeep is needed unless I can train it to stop moving. Being on botox for a few years, there is muscle atrophy which is normal since the muscle is not being used although the atrophy isn't noticeable since it's not a huge muscle. For some people the muscle atrophy can make the forehead look even worse than if they hadn't gotten botox due to the muscles not having activity. Similarly to weightlifting, if inactive, your muscles will no longer be toned or firmed anymore. For me, the first time I got botox and when it was wearing off my forehead had some rippling. But as I got botox again, I did not have the rippling anymore when it is wearing off.

Whilst not being a complete fix, it has definitely mitigated the issue.

It did take about 9 months of constant use to get the full results I have today, and I'm happy with it.

But I hoped they'd still help somewhat with fine lines and hydration, maybe even with some skin repair.

I cut that bit out of the video because tbh…it was kind of irrelevant. I always appreciate how James comments in many of his videos that he has had Botox because he doesn't want to attribute any skin care ingredient to the effects that he knows he has from Botox. I wish more influencers would be this transparent! As for Argireline, I have a bottle of it and think it helps on my forehead, but I cannot use it near my eyes because every time I have used it for a few days in a row, I have gotten small bumps in my crow's feet area. I didn't want to jump to any conclusions and assume that the bumps were due to the Argireline, but every time I go to use it after stopping for a while, I feel like they come back. So that's frustrating. Maybe I just have sensitive skin to this particular peptide. Still not positive that it's due to this but it seems pretty likely at this point. It's a bummer because I do think it's a good serum if your skin will tolerate it. I like using it on my forehead and my neck.

So, I just now did a bit of reading to be sure I wasn't doing something wrong, and found that nothing's changed: yes, you *can* use most any peptide in conjunction with retinol. Then I Googled argireline specifically, and yes, you *can* also use argireline with retinol (I do realize retinol and tretinoin are different!). Of course there are exceptions to every rule, but I do think a good general rule to follow regarding layering skincare is to apply your thinnest/less viscous products first. Thicker products should be applied after thinner products. For a couple years now, I've used two peptide products by Cos de Baha (their MA Peptide Serum has an absolutely beautiful texture, and for my skin, it works wonders) plus TO's argireline, and then tretinoin four nights a week. Botox all the way. I’d try the serum along side of it Each to their own but I feel better when my forehead is properly frozen in time (well for a few months at a time) ❤️ -I’d love to know a good retinol serum if anyone knows of one. Not the ordinary. Had no results with that x

Alastin's Renewal Retinol serum is my absolute favorite.❤ I have really sensitive skin, and it's the first retinol serum that I've used that doesn't irritate my skin and make me breakout in a rash. I use one pump about every other day at night. I would definitely recommend it.🙂

I love Ordinary products and I actually use that as well. I love the product, But I wouldn't go as far as calling it botox in a bottle. People are calling it that.. It's just an alternative, it's apart of my skin routine. I do agree with you though.

I have had a frowned face since I was born. I tried this Ordinary serum a few years ago when I first ordered from Ordinary. I didn't feel anything. Then, my dermatologist suggested me that I could try Botox, which handles the frown for every 3-4 months. Most face creams exaggerate effects. There are not that many effects a face cream could offer, in my opinion.

A good injector of Botox can make incredible difference in your skin. Nothing compares. I’ve had for years..lasts for6-9 months now. I have no lines around my eyes. I have some on my forehead..but I didn’t inject there often. This kind of false advertising is so frustrating. Glowing stuff and moisturizing makes skin look plump and a bit smoother.. but that is nothing like Botox results. I took a break during lockdowns.. but recently got a treatment and it is remarkable..it opens my eyes and lifts. Love it. But everyone should do what they want. ..just don’t believe hype about topicals. I’m 76…and no, you don’t look frozen or expressionless unless you go to an unqualified person who overdoes it. Thanks for this video.. the truth is frustrating to hear, but needs to be told.

My space cadet self at first thought you said Richard was "apparent" and I responded out loud "yes, he's right there and looks like a sweetheart." No but you meant "a parent." As in father, dad, papa, pops. I cannot lol. I need something to eat. 😂😂😂 Thank you for the review and always the honest feedback. I'm glad I didn't fall for this for my mom or myself. I’ve been using it once a day for about 8 months. I do find it helps my deep forehead lines look more plumped up. It doesn’t seem to be helping my eyes as much. It has helped my lips quite a bit. I do use about 10 products in my morning, vit c and tons of moisture and 4 different peptides. I’m 57, I’ve never tried Botox and I’m nervous at my age I might just sag? Any advice?

Do you think this kind of product would be good for someone with dry skin to help with that beyond a regular moisturizer and drinking water?
@foreverdreaming899911 ай бұрын
Manuka honey oil and products that are rich in Glycerin are a god send for dry skin I don't think this one would hydrate tou but you could always pair it with a hydrating product
@JamesWelsh11 ай бұрын
Yes 100%! you can try their Matrixyl +HA which is also peptides plus hyularonic acid which will help with hydration! Drinking water unfortunately doesn’t do a lot for the skin so hydrate with toners and serum and use a nice thick moisturiser to lock it all in especially at night! ☺️

I tried it three times and the longest it worked for me was between five to six weeks. It was so disappointing to have it wear off so soon. I just can't afford to get Botox every six weeks. I did like the effects, while it lasted.

Gave it 3-4 months I have no fine lines/static lines. I got it a few years ago to smooth out dynamic lines because I didn’t like how deep my forehead ones looked. No results at all. No change. No benefit. (Also didn’t change other products) Could be because I was like 25 years old and didn’t want to accept that’s just how my natural forehead lines look when I raise my eyebrows :(

I use Argerline and Matrixyl on days I don't use vitamin C. And as long as I do use it. And it's smooth out fine lines. Not in the same way as Botox. But I think it's nice to be able to move my face. As soon as you don't use it it's is the same as before I didn't use it.

I spent a fortune 10 years ago I would spend a fortune on high end skin care regime. Did nothing until I discovered azzulure (botox). Saved fortune by having 3 areas done once every 3 months,sometimes 4 months ,depending how much stress ive had in that time. Botox works everytime,like you say james do your homework to find a good aesthetician and hold on to them..brilliant informative video,one day I'm sure they will create botox in a bottle,but not for the time being,as a bonus botox helped with my migraines that I used to get. Can't remember the last time I had one. 💜

I’ve used this product for about 8 months. I rarely buy a skincare product twice, but I’ve been through a couple of bottles of this one now. I’ve also recently had to revise my entire daily diet recently due to auto-immune issues and inflammation issues. Both have played a part in helping me “age backwards” a little. I’m 46 and use this on my forehead and crow’s feet. I’ve had Botox before, too, but I don’t feel the need to do that anymore. I think this is hydrating and helps with the appearance of fine lines, but it absolutely doesn’t compare to the results of Botox on my forehead. I still have 11 lines and the same crease mid-forehead since age 25, but fine lines are diminished noticeably, but not drastically. At the same time, I can’t stand the frozen feeling of Botox on my forehead. I have an expressive face and that includes the eyebrows and forehead, it bugs me a good bit when I can’t move my eyebrows up & down. Tried a Botox lip flip once. It looked pretty until I tried to drink anything…😂 Never again for me. 😂

I bought a bottle of the copper peptide serum from the Ordinary at Sephora last week. So far unsure. It kinda smells funny.
@infoManiac-rf5db10 ай бұрын
I couldn't deal with the scent and the sticky, gloppy feeling of it just sitting on my face. The scent, I believe, is the copper. The sticky yuck feeling I think is due to the multiple peptide formulation as I had that same gross feeling with a very very expensive Peter Thomas Roth multi peptide serum. Never again! I find better results with retinoids and vitamin C anyway 😉

Being Asian I can hardly relate as I have little to no face wrinkles, and I’m 36🤣🤣🤣 Ironically I had way more (forehead), as a child/teen, as Asians use their face when they speak not their hands, and never used sunscreen or any skincare until 4 years ago, which ironically destroyed my skin, and I now suffer from extreme sensitive reactive skin plus Roeacea🤷🏾♀️ But wearing sunglasses constantly even when not sun or at night, and minimal sunlight has helped a lot besides certain products, no botox here.

I guess I live under a dang rock because while I've been using this argireline for about a year I'd never heard about any of this until this video. That said it made a visible improvement in the fine lines on my forehead in what I felt was a very short time (for skin care results). It was one of those 'holy cow, I'm never not using this' kind of things. But of course that was coming in with a reasonable expectation, not thinking it was some sort of science defying miracle in a dropper bottle
