Made as a senior thesis film at Ringling College of Art and Design. Music by Kevin MacLeod. Vocals by Rebecca Parham.
The film took a year and a half to make. This was actually the last idea I came up with the night before we presented our concepts to our staff. I never thought they would choose it and they never asked me to prove I could sing opera. Luckily I had a great voice teacher. Hope you enjoy it!

Why don't KZbinrs like this swap sub counts with RiceGum, for example? KZbinrs like her deserves waaaayyyyyyyy more recognition than RiceGum, who is, in my opinion, one of the worst KZbinrs. Rebecca has put a lot of effort into the animation (it is pretty nice, even though I do prefer the animations that represent the white character with no mouth), not to mention the fact that she sang and written the vocals of the opera, with a perfect voice, unlike RiceGum, who can barely rap shit. Rebecca gets the biggest W for making such animations, and for the effort that she put in.

Honestly? This is one of my fav short films. Its funny, amazingly well sung, the movement of the dress speaks to my soul (and my visual ASMR response), and the animation holds up spectacularly well even years after it was made. And I like the idea that popped into my head after a few watches. The operetta could have sung the whole song without the bottled opera, but she lacked confidence and relied too much on the magic in the bottle. It took messing with the other bottles, having her mishap on stage, and keeping up the singing even when it was going bad, for her to gain confidence. And so she managed to finish the song on her own. I dont know if theres any truth to this, or if my brain is just reading too much into it, but I like the thought.
