As a former boutique hotel concierge, if rooms aren't available, they AREN'T available. The promoter and hotel staff's hands are tied until rooms are turned over by housekeeping. HOWEVER, the front desk and GM should have been well aware by noon of the delayed time table for room turn around and should have given Trixie an honest timeframe of when she would be able to check-in. And, because it would be two hours after expected check in, they should have immediately offered her gratis services and dining options. And, when Trixie asked for access to the gym, the fact the front desk staff believed he NEEDED a hotel room key and then approval of the manager for him to be permitted access is CRAZY. And, proof they were either brand-new employees or idiots. After checking in, you and Brandon should have composed a respectable but sternly worded e-mail to the promoter about the lapse in what you believe to be are the standard and best practice of hotel bookings for talent. It doesn't have to be nasty or insulting, just worded with the clarification that in the future this should not happen again.

Agreed that if they don’t have a room ready yet, then their hands are tied. But, for me, it was the lack of hospitality while Trixie was waiting. They should’ve offered her a beverage and snack while she waiting, access to something (like the gym), AND comped room service. Trixie is a relatively well known celebrity, and SLC isn’t THAT big. Someone could probably figure out which hotel it was within a couple hours. As a hotel, you want to be known for your service so people pick you over all the other hotels. 🤷🏻♀️

Gay biochemist here. For anyone curious about how you can have zero calorie foods, here’s how it works: Certain molecules can stimulate your taste receptors without actually being the same molecule that occurs in nature. For example, orange flavoring like in a Fanta doesn’t exactly taste like an actual orange, but it’s stimulating enough of the same kinds of receptors that it gets close. Artificial sweeteners do the same thing. They stimulate sweetness receptors, but are also not able to be broken down by your body like regular sugar and converted into fat and glycogen. Instead, they pass through your system completely and get excreted. So that’s how you can have a molecule that isn’t sugar, but tastes sweet, and doesn’t get metabolized by your body.
@Schampu4000 Жыл бұрын
Okay I have a question, but I'm a complete idiot when it comes to biology so idk if it'll make sense. So if I remember correctly from my biology class, taste works with the lock and key method? So the molecule has to fit exactly into the taste receptors to be picked up. Which then means the artificial sweetener has to fit exactly into the sweetness receptors to be picked up aswell, thus it has to have the same "shape" as sugar. But to have the shape of sugar, doesn't it have to be made of the same stuff as sugar, so carbohydrates? And then if it's made of carbs, wouldn't the body just break that down anyway? I mean seemingly artificial sweeteners aren't made of carbs, but then how does it activate the sweetnes receptors?
@spiderdude2099 Жыл бұрын
@@Schampu4000 yes, basically, the molecule has enough of a similar structure to sugar to trigger the taste receptors, but it has chemical bonds that can’t be broken down like the regular carbohydrate. It basically passes through your body completely unchanged and unable to be broken down.
