I have an Alfa Romeo 156 JTD (diesel) year 2002 115HP SW Progression, 285.830 miles (460.000km). An incredibly powerful car, resistant, stable, easy to drive, low consumption, and very fast. It didn't lose any of the 115 HP (common rail engine). A car that the mechanics don't like, but that buries in terms of resistance and reliability many unfairly praised cars.

Security Gateway (SGW) bypass + MultiECUscan = DIY solution. No need to go to the dealer. SGW is located under the steering column. Could be a bit tricky to access. When replacing modules MES will do proxi alignment. Flashing odo = Missing communication in CAN network. This happens when replacing modules (or config). So there is a need to do proxi alignment. Then clear codes.

I had a 1975 4 door Alfa Alfetta back in the early '80's. There were a couple parts that were exceptionally troublesome. 1) the motor mounts, chunks of rubber that bolted into place, 2) the trans axel, again, a chunk of rubber, like a doughnut with 4 bolts to hold the two axels in place and still allow for it to flex. These parts broke all the time due to the all aluminum high torque 4 cylinder engine and manual 5 speed transmission with Spica fuel injection system. I also had trouble with the start because it was on the bottom side of the engine and would get dirt on the contacts failing to start. I learned to park on hills so I could pop the clutch to start it. Good Times for sure!

The first dealership probably didn't want the liability of enabling a car with blown airbags. They have no guarantees you will replace the airbags. I'm happy the second dealership worked with you!

Hi Dr Vlad, engine mounts fail very often after a collision in french and italian cars, Renault cars with K4M engines, for example, have a plastic right mount that breaks away after a collision, even if it wasn't a high damage collision. Renault, Opel, Fiat and AR use "hydraulic" mounts filled with oil for more confortable engine run in some models.

I could be mistaken, but based off the matte black trim and the older design of the 5 hole wheels- that looks like a 2018 or 2019 model year. I believe they started using body color trim in 2020.
