My absolute favorite of all time. I have read the book and watched the original version more times than I can count. I absolutely adore Susan Penhaligon, she deserves so much more credit than she receives.

Susan is a truly wonderful and beautiful actress and she was great in Dracula (1977) BBC with Frank Findlay too

Andrea Newman ,or Mrs Nolan as we knew her was my English teacher when I was 12 and left the High school I went to to begin her writing career

The name is interesting, Mrs Nolan, as Andrea has covered her tracks well (don't blame her though) she probably wanted a private life.

It’s a great work. Very quiet, subtle and nuanced. TV dramas are now so full throttle, the interplay between the characters is lost with the fast pace of the narrative.

I preferred the other novel and tv series Andrea Newman wrote A Sense of Guilt which funnily enough also has Trevor Eve in a lead role

The new one was good but does not have the depth of character study that the original does, very forgettable by comparison.

Casting a woman of 26 to play a woman of 19 (Prue)?!! Casting a woman of 28 to play a woman of similar age to Prue?!! Casting a woman of 44 to play Prue's mother?!! Complete failure to make the various relationships credible! Wooden storylines and acting! Not withstanding the foregoing, I can see why this series has gained such critical acclaim!
