Yes, I have over 100 in my arsenal (yes, style and fashion is a WAR against the slovenly of our society), but only in the last couple of years have I metriculated to where I wear them with aplomb. I stumbled onto your Instagram and brother, as a fellow man of the (fashion) cloth, I tip my many fedoras to you.

If you van tie your shoelaces, you can tie a bowtie. And always use a selftied, they're so much better looking than pretied.

Growing up my little brother wore a bow tie to church every Sunday. It was clip-on, but he was small. It's still part of his quintessential style.

Love this DW! Thanks for including me 🥰 Never saw Lady Di in a tux...woah! Peewee Herman was the reason I got my first bow tie in middle school! There were a lot of those little 50s/60s clip on bow ties around in the thrift shops then. Great work!
@DandyWellington4 жыл бұрын
Peewee is a gateway for many young bow tie wearers for sure! I wanted to included more ladies because there is so much style there. I most cases the clip on rule doesn’t apply for ladies because of how elevated the style is.

Vladimir Horowitz was the reason I started wearing bow ties when I was a teenager. Now I just like them. I only wear them once or twice a week, but find they are actually convenient. Anyone who’s wore a long tie knows how they can get in the way. Also, if you’re not concerned with fitting in, wearing a bowtie is a good way to stand out from the crowd. There was a time. When I wore a bowtie to work every single day because I wanted people to know who I was. That way if someone said you look familiar, I could say yeah I’m a guy who wears the bowties and rides motorcycle. That’s a combination they couldn’t forget.

I love wearing bow ties. It gives me that southern flair of sophistication. I have been doing zoom since the pandemic, Wearing a bow tie is great for only showing my upper body in public appearance. I have been wearing ties most of my life since junior high, it is less likely that I would stain my bow tie when I eat 👍
@supersonique0014 жыл бұрын
Very very interesting. I have never had a problem with black tie attire but otherwise cannot wear a bow tie in ordinary dress!? Other wearers do not bother me at all but for me it becomes negatively visceral and simply does not suit me, strange.

I will never forget my younger brother wearing a bow tie for an event, he was about 12/13, then the older cousin, thinking he’s being cool or something straight up told him “I feel the urge to punch you in the face seeing with that bow tie” I haven’t seen him wear one since 😔 I should play this around him, maybe he’ll catch your words of wisdom

Definitely agreeing on Indiana Jones not being a role model for archeologists. (Like that cave with the golden idol- wouldn't that have been considered a technological marvel? How would the ancients have done that?) IMHO, it's very much a "colonizer" view of archeology. Lucas was inspired by the 1930s serials he used to watch as a boy. Plus some of the English archeologists. They were more of the type to go to Egypt or Ethiopia, and take all the artifacts they could box up and ship back, and then display them in the museums in the UK.
