Could be used for a yarn bowl by putting the yarn end through the hole and then the yarn stays in the bowl while crocheting. Neat bowl with lovely grain. 🥰

I had a chance to watch this video again, ( and glad I did) . The way it was finished was perfect. I didn't realize how it showed off just how spectacular the grain was and it almost slapped my face with the beauty of this bowl. I didn't notice just how beautiful the grain was the first time. Judy needs to be thankful that you were given a chance to turn this bowl. As you said (for all the world to enjoy). ♥ KEEP ON TURNING

A lovely piece, and I think the shape you ended with really suits what the grain and spalting are doing. So it’s got a hole in it - that just shows the history of the wood, and adds interest to the final piece. Who cares that you couldn’t serve soup in it!

Hello There! Surprise! I’m here. Did you miss me? 😆 I really, really like this bowl! (Yay F&W!) The more I look at it, the more I like it! It kind of reminds me of Native American pottery. I want to say I could feel good energy from it, but how would that be possible days later.? Well, you know me. You never know. 😂 I’m mostly good. I now am just taking care of my 93 year old dementia Dad. He is going to go with me on my yearly trip to Colorado. He is excited about it. After my mom passed, pretty much all he wanted to do was go on a trip to see “the kids”. Hopefully I’ll see you next video. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼! Take care and have a wonderful week! As always hugs and more headed your way! ✨💫 Roma 🌲💚🌳 🦅

I turned a bowl very similar to that once. I discovered inside a big round bug hole, it turned out that a Wood Bee had gotten in was trying to make a nest. The fibers were from the wood and what ever she had brought in for her nest. . It was quite deep and went out the side of the bowl. I also left it alone and made it a natural design feature of the bowl. The wood grain designee and color really stands out on this piece . Couldn't have (didn't) done it better myself. Spectacular results. KEEP ON TURNING

I think it turned out very cute and the grain is beautiful. I have to agree with the other lady about a yarn bowl. That is absolutely perfect for that. The hole on the side and rounded top would not have to worry about your yarn running away from you. Haven't seen you in a little while. Very much so enjoyed watching your video.

The bowl turned out well, even with the hole. I'm a resin kinda guy. I would have filled that hole with a light blue resin but, that's just me. I like your videos and commentary. I hope your thumbs get better soon.

I love it Phil - such a beautiful piece of wood and you made the most of it as always! I love how Poplar wood gives you so much to look at - I have a really big piece of black poplar about 20" diameter x 5" thick you've put me in a mind to make it a natural edge end grain bowl now! Good to see you looking well Phil - all the best!

Holy smokes Phil that is going to be a popular Poplar bowl. I would say that hole was meant to be there and sure adds to it. In the first pattern shop I worked at the boss bought 10 times the amount of kiln dried poplar as he meant to. I hated using the stuff but but this piece you have was meant to be turned. I love it my friend, Gary

Oops! I bet he regretted that for quite awhile, Gary! LOL! Yeah, I think it mostly is a pretty bland wood but, this piece was special. Thanks, Buddy! 😊

I like the "hole" bowl !! I think that some type of leaf-cutting bee took advantage of the hole and stuffed it with leaves, and probably laid some eggs. Whatever the case, it adds character and interest. Thanks for sharing!
