The original rowed longboat ferries were superceded by and replaced by the modern day cable ferries, which run from Bowness Nab to Mitchell Wyke somewhat South of Bowness village. The boats that sail from and arrive at Bowness pier are not 'ferries' but cruisers, (formally known as 'steamers' though they're now all petrol driven or electrically driven.) It's not a good idea to refer to them as 'ferries' since people might be encouraged to turn up and expect to be able to board them with their cars!

"The town known as Windermere" didn't "emerge out of almost nothing" - it was initially the village of Birthwaite, chosen by the railways as their terminus, when the town of Bowness-on-Windermere refused to allow the tracks to be built all the way into Bowness.

“…..and on your left ladies and gentlemen you will see the outlet pipe where sewage is discharged into the lake thanks to a chronic lack of long term investment by greedy privatised water companies who paid out billions to foreign investors. This approach to water was championed the Conservative Party who believed that if you privatised anything it would automatically make it better……” 😢😢😢😢
