Her ex girlfriend, who she wrote the song about, wanted to see other people. LP was sooo in love with her! She is a tv star across the pond somewhere...totally broke LP's heart 😞 That's the pain you hear in her songs. Just a little FYI. I can't get enough!

I also prefer LP live. It really isn't that the mixed versions on the albums are bad, but she has this presence and ability live that just doesn't shine as well when there's so much else going on on the track. She's such a performer even when she's so casual. That being said, I do like the music video for this one quite a bit, and there are a few of her songs that don't have excellent quality recordings that the album might be worth a listen to. I'd recommend Switchblade for another one that's great live, and it's got a McKittrick Hotel recording to boot.

So I only got to meet her and she was sooo lovely and humble it was crazy! Her voice live literally stunned people in places and there was a frenzy to the crowd! So good I have booked a holiday to see her in Barcelona... tickets this time next year will be outrageous prices!

It's quite strange that she is more famous in Europe, South America... than in US. Anyway here in Czechia I of course heart this song long time ago and sometimes you simply know immediately that this is something extraordinary. Anyway I wasn't watching her too much till last October when one of my twin daughters started to play it in car and asked me if I would buy tickets to see her show. It happenned in March, few weeks back... honestly I was expecting that it would probably be too melancholic for me. What a mistake! It was full of energy, love, piece, happiness, sharing and of course without tons of musicians or vocalist it was musical miracle just because of her. She was so emotional, crying in the end... For me this was almost on the level of Paul McCartney's show. I am full of it even till now. I bought 2 vinyls immediately. You're absolutely right that her signing is so original, excellent in every aspect and thoroughly thought-out. It made the people so happy... ( and I am normal man, 47... so nothing to do with her orientation or anything ). Hiya I am going to see LP at the Roundhouse in London in 2 weeks, I just can't wait it's so exciting . I discovered her last year she blew me away. Review- Switchblade- it's good. If you want a more rock sound then listen to her 1st album Heart Shaped Scar or better still watch it. Especially the track- Perfect- She is only 20 and she is amazing. Good job boys.

She was proudly experiencing her first faithful (her first time being faithful), loving relationship when her ex wanted to make their relationship open. LP reluctantly accepted. It ruined their magic and ended their love as a result. And you're correct; this particular live version isn't the best quality example just because of the acoustics of the setting. Among other things, she does really like old school rock & more "hard" music than her style would suggest.
