In this this video I make clear some points I made years ago on the CROSS ARM position. The question that was posed to me was in regards to a CONSTANT cross arm position. Since the QUESTION was on STYLE and NOT PERIODICAL POSITION, I answered that I was NOT a fan of that position. It was assumed that I did not use or support the DEFENSIVE POSTURE! That is not true. I USE that METHOD in ALL stand up training and have for OVER 45 YEARS! BARE KNUCKLE and GLOVED! In this video I speak to those who are not aware of the reasons for it and remind people of how long I personally have boxed and taught the art.

This man is correct. Archie Moore didnt fight out the cross guard, he used the cross guard.

I used the cross arm and reverse cross arm when sparring. I transition from a traditional boxing stance to the cross guard to make up for head movement. But it's mostly about the footwork and timing. All boxing stances have holes, it's about mastering your craft.

First guy I saw it used successfully was Ken Norton. He pretty much fought out of that stance continuously.

Hi Friend, that is really interesting piece of history there, i have noticed that i used a bit of the cross armed POSITION and shoulder roll in my sparring, i wanted to ask of you, if it would be possible to make a video showing how to incorporate it into the typical amateur boxing high guard style ?
