Just have to remind you that every country will say that they focus more on being intelligent with their skills and there is a natural bias towards thinking your training is superior to others. There are a lot of smart American fighters like Floyd Mayweather and differences between Mexico and USA boxing. Can't really lump them all together.

I just found your channel by chance. I love it dude. I used to box many years ago and I'm an old man now, I think in the West, there was and still lingers a sensationalism, fanfare, and almost a contest by boxing promoters to put freaks in the ring. they're huge, most are found lacking in stamina towards the end of a bout, can throw and sometimes take punches that would probably kill a normal human. Don King created this with Mike Tyson. He made and promoted sluggers who weren't as technically proficient as a boxer in the east might be. I remember watching championship bouts that were laughable. If they lasted 10 rounds, they were boring because they didn't have the stamina to punch for that long, or they ended early because they got paid too much to be there and could double that paycheck if they lost and fought a second time. There were so many paper tigers in the ring it was pathetic. That was Don King's effect and legacy. BUT you didn't see this as much in the boxers from lighter weights. Much better boxers, much better boxing.

Thank you for the feedback and sharing your thoughts. That’s completely true Don King made a huge impact on boxing culture by putting up shows like that

@@akhotinbxng I am rooting for Bivol because I love his style. But we all know Beterbiev needs only one punch to finish the fight. Bivol was rattled by Joe Smith's right hand. The bell saved him. Beterbiev is a much harder opponent, technically and power-wise.

I remember in my old gym of they would laugh at the group of Khazak guys that trained separately for their "safe point style". Our guys would get their asses kicked and say at least they showed heart and courage and took risks. Khazaks were better but our guys took some sort of moral victory. They would rather fight in an excited way than to win it seemed. They didn't want to win by points. The KO was the most important. So I think it's a culture thing too. I've been shown the Peekaboo Mike Tyson style all my life even though I'm a lanky body type that doesn't like in fighting and I find the eastern style fits me much better because I prefer flexible tactics and mobility over other advantages.

I’m from Russia and I understand why did he do so. It’s not a mistake nor a political decision. Russia is the only one post-Soviet country where Soviet boxing heritage has failed to be saved. Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan are the countries where boxing coaches are still using Soviet training methods nowadays while Russia’s not. As soon as USSR collapsed, a boxing in Russia has been changed completely. It’s never been at least somewhere alike since then. As for Bivol, first of all his style isn’t completely Soviet even though most of the elements are Soviet. Secondly, Bivol is an exception, his Soviet base is a result of a hard work of his coach Isaev. Isaev was one of the few specialists in Russia who didn’t stop using soviet methods in training even after the USSR collapsed.

You know, it's not even just the style differences between the west and the east, even the fans are totally different, for example when shakur Stevenson fought against his latest opponent in his hometown, people were so bored they practically walked away from the building by the 8th round, they wanted him to straight up knock his oponent out or be dominent. but boxing fans from the east and most of europe i think appreciate watching boxers play chess just as much as fans in the west love war.
