In the one where it says lack of diversity in training, my gym has the same principles, work the jab and backhand then 1,2 on heavy bag, or some days anything on the bag, 20 mins skipping and running + pads. We do this every day however, we change how much we do of certain things. Like sometimes we do more bag then running, but sometimes more running than bag

@akhotinbxng3 ай бұрын
You can consider other gyms if there are some other ones in your area
@lx63812 ай бұрын
i wouldn't judge too early, although 4 months could also be enough. it depends on some factors. for example if you are an absolut beginner or if for example the gym has many new people it's hard to give everyone much attention. you have to prove your coach that you really want to get better. come every training, put in 100% effort and so on. and if he's still ignoring you, you know for a fact that you should change the gym. also you can try to connect with other people and ask them about their experiences with the coach. don't expect a coach to treat you super well from the beginning because he only has limited ressources and if he doesn't see any potential in you, it's a waste of time.

For the past six months I have been running my own kickboxing gym. I have none prior coaching experience and no real fights behind me, but been training for several years and been trained by pro fighters. I have been fully transparent on this to the guy's training. I do this for free, we live in an area with zero martial arts environment. But we have created one by ourselves. Even though I am totally transparent about my experience and doing it totally free. sometimes the imposter syndrome kicks in and I start doubting myself. To be clear, the guys are loving it and we are in a very positive and safe environment (no injuries or hard sparring). What would you recommend in my situation?

@akhotinbxngАй бұрын
Not holding pads is a little limitation on training methods so it’s not a big problem but adding it would be better. There were many old school champions who used no pads He could have a lot of experience in training and sparring without competing so it’s not really a red flag as far as he has teaches you well. Well the price depends on the level of coach. Average price in Ukraine is 12$ for one session But of course there are too tier coaches who charge way more

I think everything at my boxing gym is great except for sparring. I’ve been regularly training for over 3 months, but I’ve never sparred or seen anyone spar there despite this gym having a ring. The trainer says I need some doctors note if I wanna get in the ring, should I change boxing gyms? I wanna actually learn how to fight in a real scenario.
@rks16764 ай бұрын
I'm in your same boat. My gym is a mix of 'boxercize' and sparring, and they often won't encourage you to do harder sparring until your technique and endurance are top notch. They have two sparring classes a week and they're often later in the day so I rarely see any of it. My point is that you're probably decent, but not being fully trained in fundamentals (and gassing out quickly) increases the risk of injury a lot, so they're probably just being cautious. But get that doctor's note if you wanna take it to that level!
@akhotinbxng4 ай бұрын
Go get that note and see what your coach has to say next. I think after 3 months you should start incorporate sparrings If your coach takes you down and you’re sure that you’re ready, try checking out some other gyms. It’s not a problem to go to 2 different gyms

I trained for about a month and I just learned the basic punches and kicks and some footwork ( I trained kickboxing) we would warm up then do drills and combos that was for the people who are advanced, then after I learned the basic things I was thrown with these " advanced fighters" doing complicated combos 5x combos and head movement ( which I did not know how to do it) all that happened in less than a month, I'm still not sure but was I in a bad gym?
@akhotinbxng5 ай бұрын
Well that’s not a good approach to teach a beginner. The gym and the coach may be good but treating a beginner like isn’t a way. That may happen if you’re the only beginner in the class, but if not then the training program isn’t really good as it doesn’t consider level of all students Overall it’s a sign of ignorant coaching
