Boxing Training - Move like a Professional Boxer
A boxer's training depends largely on the point in their career at which they are situated. If the boxer is just a beginner, a minimal training routine might consist of learning how to hit a heavy bag, a speed bag, or a double end bag (a small bag with a cordon top and bottom connecting it to the floor and ceiling) as well as doing shadowboxing in front of a mirror, skipping rope, calisthenics and jogging every day, as well as an occasional practice bout inside the ring (sparring). Most beginning boxers will spend most of their early careers conditioning and establishing the fundamentals.
However, for the amateur or professional boxer preparing for a competition or bout, training is much more stringent. Boxing is widely considered one of the most physically demanding sports globally.
Boxing may look intimidating, but it doesn't have to feel that way. Arming yourself with a few basic moves before your first class or training session will set you up for success in the ring. But before you get going, you'll first want to brush up on your stance and breathing technique-then master the basic moves.

Footwork is the cornerstone of practical boxing training. Getting comfortable with proper stance and foot movement is key to advancing your boxing skills. Good footwork is achieved through the appropriate stance, footwork drills, and, most of all, practice. All beginners should incorporate a variety of footwork exercises into their training.
Boxing footwork helps fighters maintain balance. It is also crucial to deliver effective punch combinations, improve accuracy with every hit, and set boxers up for offensive moves.
Excellent footwork is often credited to the success of champion boxers. The ability to move around one's opponent swiftly while staying balanced is essential in real-life fight scenarios. Learning boxing footwork fundamentals is key in helping beginners quickly amp up their game to the next level.

--------------------------------------------
Though it seems like your hands are more important, your feet and footwork are perhaps the most crucial things to focus on when learning to box. Moving your feet correctly gives you the balance and stability to defend quickly and attack with power. That power does not come through your arms -- it comes from your legs.
Boxing is not necessarily a science like most would consider. It is more of an art. Art is a relentless pursuit, and you will never wholly master your craft because there is so much to learn.

This move in boxing is called a "walk off". You do it well. And when you're feet are squared up and close you are in a "safe" range.. I always tell boxers to NEVER step heal to toe! I would just say give it a try. It can only advance all things..I would also say this is an advanced movement.. Thanks for making it! I appreciate your time #alwayslearning

Hi. Thank you so much for the video. I really liked how you explained it. It is really a simple move and make sense all the way. Though this move for the orthodox fighters to move the right. it is easy for orthodox fighters to move left but not right. Also easy for southpaw to move right but not left. Thank you. your explanation is very professional.

Not dissing or anything but stepping on you heel instead of ball of the foot causes a slower reaction time as there is less muscle to the heel than the ball of the foot
@craigcraig7296
@craigcraig7296 9 жыл бұрын
I like your stance, but you are bringing your front foot nearly level with your back foot on the step back which makes you square on and easier to be knocked over either by a push or a punch. And you are stepping on your heel moving sideways when for efficiency the ball of the foot is better used.

I'm not going to lie, I was skeptical of this drill and the footwork. But when I think back to my training, I realize that I've been doing little moves like this, unconsciously, for a while. I'm not sure when and where I picked it up though. It's strange that you can pick up these subtle moves without realizing it. Your body just does it after a while without much of any conscious effort.

It seems like that move leaves a lot of room for you to be caught off balance. Being on the heel and also having your feet close together. If you fight a guy who's aggressive and has good timing you might be in some trouble trying to pull that off

To learn moving like a boxer, this is ok. However, for beginners stepping in like that while jabbing, they risk developing a huge tell - something that is hard to get rid of! There is no substitute for sparring IMHO.
@NeoGee77
@NeoGee77 8 жыл бұрын
+NateBowerFitness if somebody comes at me with a jab like this and I can count on them to always take a step, they will get hurt badly. Not hating bro, just saying that moving like a boxer doesn't include teaching new boxers to always step in while jabbing. Developing power comes after technique and speed- in that order. A new boxer will not learn the proper technique (for jabbing, mind) this way!

The walk off is a questionable move and most boxing trainers skip it all together, but like any other technique that breaks every single basic rule in boxing, example : hands down at your waist leaving your head wide open is something literally every fighter and trainer will tell you is dead wrong and is for about 99.9% of us, is used to perfection by the best fighters in the world. lol

most useless move ever.. you move your feet but not really your body or positioning. worst case: you do the step and you are unable to dodge/block enemy punches.
@SmackEmDown
@SmackEmDown 9 жыл бұрын
***** at 1:20 you go to you right side and you kinda roll with your right foot over your heel. this movement does not exist in boxing. mostly you want to have most of your bodyweight on your ball of foot. when you go forward, sideways or backwards you are always in a nice position for dodging/blocking/punching. you absolutely don't want get used to roll over your heel because you cannot develop tension and power for anything. all competitive fighters know this...

Master Pol Hurst "Master" if you read my argument properly, you'll notice that this wasn't an insult. Furthermore it was my opninion and argued clearly why it is (again my opnion) the most useful move in a combat. I was working out kickboxing and boxing for seven years and saw a lot of people doing "useless" moves like that. Just to mention it: none of them died but none of them won. So take your "shut up" comment back and behave a like real champion and not like the wannabe preacher...
@SmackEmDown
@SmackEmDown 8 жыл бұрын
lolcano234 Thank for you replying without arguing why this boxing move is useful. If you had any idea about boxing than you would know and see how useless the "technique" is. It is martial arts and referred to boxing it means: you want to smash your opponent while taking as less damage as possible! that's why I don't see myself stirring shit. I made myself clear why that boxing move is useless. read again lolcan234. on the other hand you also should know, that this video is kind of affiliate advertising. nothing more. the guy only follows some fitness boxing rules and tries to teach rookies something but useful.
