@@MrAntonBerg Ingemar didn't say Floyd was a bum. He did say many other things. It did not hurt Floyd. It made him angry which Floyd seldom get that way toward anyone. Floyd said he could live with what Ingemar did to him inside of the ring because he was intend to do the same to Ingemar. "But leave it with that, don't come back and step on someone" that's what Floyd felt. He didnot go into the fight over confident like he was the first time He fought Ingemar. He said "I might lose again, but the other guy's gonna have a very difficult time raising his hands this time, that I can guarantee." That's all he said. Floyd never talked trash. I've known Floyd for many years. It was the only time he had no trouble building up anger toward his opponent. Floyd told me all these himself. Floyd and Ingemar became very good friends after their fights. The two used to run full marathons together in a few occasions and everything. Their families all became good friends.

At the 28:10 mark you can see the difference between the character of Patterson and Johansson..Ingemar had just gotten up from the first knockdown and Patterson swarmed all over him with a barrage of punches. A dazed Johansson got turned around by all the punches, and instead of hitting Ingo in the back of the head (as Johansson did to Patterson in the first fight, after he knocked Floyd down the first time) Patterson turns Johansson around and continues beating Ingo up from the front. This single act is so significant because it demonstrated the integrity and honor that Floyd had, and the LACK of integrity and honor of Ingemar.

In my opinon this was the greatest one punch KO of all time. Floyd was a vastly underrated fighter, and was never held in high regard because of the KOs by Liston and Ali. But the truth is that he was a cruiserweight and at that time the division hadn't been established. But had he fought at the 200 lbs. limit, he would have been p4p the best.

Patterson gets a lot of crap for not having a chin/getting knocked down too much, but people forget how undersized he was - the man was a light heavyweight but fought WAYYYY undersized at heavyweight because he wanted the challenge and to earn the biggest title of them all. I got nothing but respect and admiration for the man - sure he was knocked down plenty (as any fighter that was routinely outweighed by 20-30+ lbs would), but he had absurd power for his size and that Gazelle Hook of his is one of the greatest, most dangerous techniques of all time...
