Maybe I will say more. From a clinical standpoint, if you aren't afraid in the position of real existing danger then you are either a sociopath, psychopath, or a liar, or on drugs and you basically don't have your feet on the ground at this moment. Once again: Being real-life brave does absolutely not mean that you are not afraid. People are intellectualizing this way too much. Especially the ones that are constantly escaping real-life challenges. Challenges that they could do but it scares them too much to try. So they are left thinking way too much about things they should really only feel for a moment and then get over with. It isn't possible for healthy people to not be afraid because only when you are afraid you are producing adrenalin. Which you need to have in life-threatening situations, it's the way your body helps real you to react faster, stronger, smarter, and simply survive. So if the hero is completely fearless your mind already disconnects before you even think and treats him more like a cartoon character because he/she acts more like an alien or psycho than a real live normal human being :) (Ironically if a cartoon character for a kids show is scared and can't deal with it right away then he/she is million times easier to relate to than a stereotypical "fearless hero" that is a real cartoon here.) And you all already know about this perfectly if you aren't living too much with your eyes constantly glued to the screen;]
