I saw John Denver many times but his "Seasons of the Heart" concert tour was the best. It was a solo concert and he had on stage an array of guitars and a piano and created magic for two hours. This was the opening song and he had the audience from the first note...

Saturday September 14th. I remember where I was at when I first heard John Denver sing country roads, around 55 years ago. It made me miss my home in Kentucky, so I came home. He's the greatest singer ever was. And Michel Martin Murphy is one of my Hero's. Thank you for writing The boy from the country. I love it. I'm married to a cowboy. Love❤

One of my favorite songs among so many favorites ! The animals and Mother Earth were lessons I learned from John long ago and became a vegan for the animals and the environment along the way ( makes sense he was a vegetarian) . Written by Michael Martin Murphy about St Francis of Assisi, JD recorded this propelling MMM's income and notoriety. They became and remained good friends is my understanding until John's tragic death. This song was one of JDs favs he said and felt it was about him and he was sorry HE didn't write it.

Is this song referring to a real person, or even John himself?
@scottishlore3 жыл бұрын
The song was written by Michael Martin Murphy and is a song about St. Francis of Assisi. However; no question it could be about John himself. A very apt song.
