This song was the anthem of my childhood. I never had heard his version and with the poem it streams like sunlight while we watch war, yet again, this time in Ukraine, like a nightmare. I can see the paper signed, the million copies and the people dancing. We must make it happen. Peace.

We will never , ever make this happen.But in the mellinum reign of Christ it will happen and then after the new heaven and a new earth for eternity. This world fell to sin at the beginning, that's why Jesus came to die for us ,if we would accept Him as savior and die for our sins.No, there will be sin, death,war and all problems until that glorious day,man is a fallen creature that Jesus died to redeem.

Yes, about time. (The peace thing, not the resurrection and all that.)
@philiplucas32942 жыл бұрын
@@duncreagan-irishandscottis7137 It is describing in most ways the melliniall reign of Christ at the ending of armeagedon, beginning a 1000 reign of peace under Jesus be fore the very last battle.You must know the Holy Bible in order to understand the future of complete peace.
@kentclark64202 жыл бұрын
@@philiplucas3294 The Bible is all about war. If God exists, he must be vengeful because there has been nothing but war on Earth so far. Where has God been? It isn't about what might happen in the future. That can't change what has happened.

I fell in love with John’s music when he finally hit the radio. I was 18. A life long fan, my son, Matthew, got his name from John’s song about an uncle. He’s very proud of that, tells people his story. Both my kids, now adults, are still John Denver fans. 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦 His music is eternal!

I was at this concert in 1982 and it gives me the same goosebumps now listening to it. I'm just a whole lot sadder, because he is gone and war is much more prevalent in the world today. He truly was ahead of his time in his thinking and ideals. So sad that he is gone.

That's what I loved about John. He was a gentleman, kind and compassionate. He loved life so much and wrote so many songs that reflected on the beauty he saw. It makes me happy to know he was close to God. He made alot of references in his songs like The Potters Wheel, Ricky Mountain High the verse where he says you can talk to God and listen to his casual reply. To me most of his songs were in a way expressing his love for what God made, the earth, the animals. He touched many with his life. Thankyou John Denver for sharing your gift of song and your spirit! :-)

He didn’t write this song. It was a folk standard written in the 50’s. As John started out in the folk circuit I suspect that’s where he learned it. It’s my family’s tradition to teach this song to all the kids & new additions. John’s version is very lovely. Johnny Cash’s last recording on the album issued after his death is very very powerful (an old man’s voice maybe). Pete Seager sang it nearly every time he performed. Great song. I wish we’d fulfill this dream!

I have liked most of his music since I learned of him in the '70s and I like that he touches on sin in the beginning. . . . . . . . but I wish he had expanded / elaborated on his viewpoint more. This year being 2015 I view so very much more violence in the world and believe it will only worsen. It seems there are more people that want death for others, than those like me, that want peace.
