Armored Core 6 is legit one of the best action games this year. Different play throughs. All different. 3 endings that are completely unique with unique story beats and fights. I love it

It's the only game that I played that was from 2023, and loved it, the combat was so slick and fun. I usually wait for sale of old games to buy, but too hype for a new AC. I just finally bought Monster Hunter and going though it now.

@@jamieheslop2750Starfield is getting much better the more I go in the story. I think all the laid back explorers will get bored but aggressive space fighters like me are probably enjoying the game a lot from its great weapons and the skills you get like flying on jet pack while spraying bullets on space pirates. The negative side are some empty planets that I think ppl totally blew out of proportion like there has been absolutely no games with areas that have nothing in it. Focus on the positive aspects of games and I bet you will always have a better outlook of games!

@@mikewilds1093 Or and hear me out, it's a game design is well and truly outdated. I played Starfield in 2011, it just had a fantasy skin on it and it was 100x better. I played 60 hours of Starfield btw but by the end of it it became a chore to complete the story. Some parts and missions shine but they are few and far between in an otherwise empty vacuum of dead space. The bounty system and punishment system is the most horrendous game design choice I have ever encountered, the stealth is abysmal, the lack of true freedom is more present than ever before taking a lot of true RPG choices away from the player and forcing them "on rails". Compared to a true RPG like BG3 it is bush league stuff. If you are enjoying it fair enough but the game could have and should have been so much more.

Happy New Year Keef! BG3 was by far the most impactful and game that will stay with me forever. It was an experience through and through that I'm glad I sunk 147 hours in my first and only playthrough. Going from Baldur's Gate 3 into Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty expansion into Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader is something of a journey of great games that I don't think will be topped in any year.

Larian has said that they want to make a smaller game next after BG3 ( can't blame them lol) so yea it'll definitely be a while before BG4. But like Keef said, BG3 can tie everyone over for the next 10 or so years.

I just beat Pikmin 4 earlier today, and that's easily my game of the year. That is such a polished experience from front to back. The world is so interesting to explore, building up your squad and strategizing how you move around with them is satisfying, and the difficulty curve is perfect. It doesn't feel right for me to leave an area without collecting every treasure available, and I can't say that about every game I play. I'm so happy to see the game doing well.

I want to give a shoutout to my pick for most underrated game of 2023, OTXO. Game is a cross between F.E.A.R. And Hotline Miami with roguelike elements thrown in. Has the best gunplay of any top-down shooter I’ve played, insane build variety, and a soundtrack that hits harder than a fucking ballistic missile. Definitely one of my favorites from this year.

DSR and RE4R are pretty much the gold standard for remakes at the moment. They added to the experience, they trimmed almost all the fat, and left us with two full experiences from start to finish.

Im very impressed that a turn based RPG was able to astonish so many people. Baldur's Gate clearly hit the mark so hard that people that would likely dislike it were compelled and addicted to it. Though I havent played most of the games in this video it isnt hard to understand that bangers were raining from the sky and 2023 will be fondly remembered for all of its amazing offerings. Can 2024 compete? As a core JRPG fan.....I am ready and HYPED! Thanks Keef!

While I won't debate the combat/gameplay of ff16 since it seems to be good for the dmc fans that like they type of thing. It 100% did not feel like a FF game. No party, very light rpgs elements. Single protagonist. The exact opposite of what alot of people want in FF.

It's a one-sided thing, though. Game devs, as a group, have had it rough this year, what with all the layoffs we've seen. I hope they all land on their feet. I have to say, though, that you've kept me laughing all trough 2023. No matter how inconsistent the uploads, I know quality when I see it. FF16 was one of the best experiences I had playing a game ever. The combat was fun though not too deep. The story was an FF story of gods and world ending danger, and there wasnt much rpg customisation, but the big cinematic moments in the game had me grinning like a dumbass in my room and the voice acting was so on point.

Love your stuff Keef, but the comment about developers saying that Baldur's gate should not be the standard is not from developer's saying they can;t do the work that the devs of Baldur's gate did. They're saying that the stars aligned with the amount of time allowed to develop the game, budget, and amount of employees working on the game. Developers are not the issue here. It's the publishers and higher ups that prevent games like Baldur's gate coming to fruition.

Ok, your thoughts on Balders Gate 3 pushed me over the edge to check it out. I was worried I wouldn't like it, but I'll give it a shot in 2024. With that said, there's no way Spider-Man 2 is 3 spaces higher than TotK! I played through Spider-Man, then Miles Morales and then Spider-Man 2, and I loved it (and I don't have the beef with Pete saying he wants to take a back Seat because I think Miles actually is more interesting), but I spent more time in TotK than I have playing all three Spider-Man games combined and I genuinely had more fun with TotK. Anyway, happy new year man. Here's to a better year in 2024.

Honestly I loved remakes like Final Fantasy 7 Remake because they massively expanded the character interactions and world while making it different enough to almost a new game For new fans it's a brand new experience and for OG fans the differences start adding up quickly
