Boycotting Israel: The BDS Movement on Campus

Anti-Semitic incidents increased 34% from 2020 to 2021, according to the Anti-Defamation League. This is of little surprise to those who have kept a close eye on this phenomenon, particularly at American colleges and universities.
The “Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions” (BDS) movement against Israel is a particularly dominant force on many campuses, and represents one of the many faces of anti-Semitism in the United States. A new report, published by the National Association of Scholars (NAS) details the incentives given to students and faculty activists that increase anti-Semitism on and off campus.
"The Company They Keep: Organizational and Economic Dynamics of the BDS Movement" (www.nas.org/reports/the-compa...) tracks the origins and growth of the BDS movement, its failures and successes in three case studies, and the threats it poses to Jewish Students and professors. The report also provides recommendations to disarm anti-Semitic activists on campus. These reforms and initiatives seek to counter BDS by maintaining free speech on campus, protecting academic freedom, and mandating the political neutrality of public higher education institutions.
The National Association of Scholars and the Heritage Foundation hosted this event on April 26.
The event featured Marc Greendorfer, Founder of the Zachor Legal Institute; James Jay Carafano, Vice President of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy and the E.W. Richardson Fellow; and the report’s author, Ian Oxnevad, Senior Fellow for Foreign Affairs and Security Studies at the National Association of Scholars.

Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the UN have all found Israel to be guilty of apartheid. Anyone who cares about human rights should support BDS.

Amnesty international never says Israel doesn’t have a right to exist. No UN resolutions says Israel doesn’t have a right to exist. No international Law says Israel doesn’t have a right to exist. I never understood the phrase “anti-Semitism” because Judaism and being Jewish is not Semitism so I just don’t understand this “anti-Semitism” word. It’s literarily and literally incorrect to use anti-semitism as reference to anti-judaism/anti-jewish Also on the same idea of using words for what they mean Boycotting Israel is *not* being against the religion of judaism or the Jewish people. Israel is not the Torah. Israel is not the religion of Judaism. Israel is not a Jew. Israel is a government, a country, a state, a nation with sovereign status. Palestine should also have an equally sovereign status as well. So that it appears on the maps the same way Israel appears on the maps. And Israels efforts to prevent that is a reason why people boycott Israel, not because they are anti-Jewish. And it is no secret how Israel oppresses Palestine and committing genocidal crime against Palestine. True humanitarian people would condemn how the Israeli government violently and aggressively treats the people of Palestine as second class citizens. As much as some don’t want to acknowledge this- there ARE reasons for boycotting Israel that have *nothing* to do with “anti-Semitism”. People should STOP conflating the movement of boycotting Israel being the same as “anti-semitism” or anti-Jewish because those are not the same things. And it is dishonest to suggest they are.
