Sometimes, after tragedies like this one, the person who can't get over the grief ends up dying from cancer a year later - I have seen it happen several times. This taught me a lesson if I ever go out to a bar and decide to need a ride home I'll call a cab instead and stay on the phone with someone or text someone to tell them I'm in the cab snap pictures of the driver or anything. You don’t have to do all of that. The Uber app has the license plate number, call model, name of driver and their phone number. Due to her intoxication (I suppose because she was at a bar) she didn’t pay attention to those details. Who knew it would cost her her life. People make mistakes like that all of the time.

At the end he says that they led him "into a conference room where Sami's parents were already waiting, looking distraught" & that is where police broke this tragic news to them that her body has been found. This must be common way to inform family about the death of a loved one, as it describes exactly my own experience of being informed with death of family member. As he concludes his testimony reclaiming his experience, I could see it, hear it, almost smell what it was like to be led in there with that plain ol industrial type of office walls, carpet, & furniture. Interesting how human beings process memory during trauma. God help these suffering families throughout this trial.

I just wish I could know what happened in that car as far as when she got in and then realized she made the mistake. He never stopped driving, yet she never answered her phone or texts. Did he take it from her? Did he assault her right away? Did he wait til they were in the country? What was she saying? So many things we will never know.

I had exactly the same thoughts, we will never know, but I think as soon as she got in the car she realised he wasn't the Uber and couldn't get out and he took her phone with a threat. Its just heartbreaking, I know someone whos daughter got in a car thinking it was her Taxi here in the UK and he raped her 😪 and the crazy sad thing is her Dad is an actual Taxi Driver.

I had a guy I was close to at one point die some time back suddenly. He wasn’t my boyfriend but we went out a lot and talked all the time. I thought to get in touch with him after he moved back to NY but found out that his leukemia had returned and he died suddenly. When I found out he died I just cried. I was really heartbroken. He was very down to earth and there’re many times I wish he was still alive today. I can’t imagine how this guy has felt losing someone so close. It’s like time just stops. He can’t reach her or talk to her anymore..it must have been devastating. This is very sad..

She's plucky full of spirit (not just alcohol!) wouldnt give pin number, hes frustrated, they fought, he used the knife to torture her for it. She still resists so turned to sex (just my opinion)she fights even harder. Hes now in a frenzy with no money OR her consent an narcisstic type with little value for women who cant cope with rejection. Tragic.

I was thinking the same thing on a different parallel. This case is so disturbing. It just hits different. I was thinking what I would do if I had a time machine. I wouldn't necessarily go back to save Samantha but rather go back and try to talk some sense into that fucker of a human being and get him some help or maybe just take him outta the whole equation. This was so impulse. It was said that he was driving around the area as if he was on the hunt. If it didn't happen to Samantha; it would've happened to another person. It's just so fuckin sad. Imagining what she went through and how vividly she was intertwined with her fate. Just watching the timeline of it all. Like if one little thing went off she wouldn't have gotten in that car or being at that bar. But that fucker would still be crazy. That fucker would still be looking for another victim.

Samantha's passing was not in vain, she helped catch an evil monster and stopped him from doing it to more innocent helpless people, she will forever be remembered as a bright light. In 2017 I got into the wrong Uber in a state I was visiting, GOD definitely gave me a second chance to make my life right. I made a promise to myself that I will never repeat those steps that lead me to go into the wrong car. I could’ve been Samantha.

I had a golden rule with my friends when we went out I was always the DD and we go there together we come back together. Ladies if you go out together make sure you come back together NO EXCEPTIONS!
