He said he was uncomfortable for personal reasons and I think that people need to understand that, the OP mentioned he was uncomfortable around women and she decided that she was going to pursue his friendship and try and push him out of his comfort zone. So he said what he had to, and it think that he was being completely reasonable. You have the right to not want to be friend with someone so I feel his reaction was justified and not over top. She should have got the hint that he didn’t want to be friends when he excused himself for every attempt to talk to him

for the third story, the person who gets uncomfortable around Women, is clearly not the jerk in this situation, some people have Anxiety issues and other issues that they need to work on, and that woman clearly didn't take his "no" for an answer. Lady, if someone tells you no and they don't wanna be friendly, then stop pushing, not everyone has to be all buddy with their coworkers, and OP clearly tried to be friendly about it.

The OP of that story clearly had some issues in the past with it. And if he does not want to be friends with female coworkers its his right. But he could have handled it better in regards to how he told her. Ive hears from quite a few females how they think everyone should be "friends" in the office erc. But fail to tale into account that not everyone is interested in that.

Apparently narrator missed the part in the 2nd to last story where the female coworker had the OP's situation explained to her and instead of respecting his boundaries and keeping their relationship purely professional, she doubled down and was like "You're gonna be my friend whether you like it or not." This has nothing to do with gender politics or people's random triggers, it boils down to this woman just invading his personal space and not taking a hint.

The guy feeling uncomfortable around women: Why does he have to be friends with anyone, male or female, if he does not want to and feels uncomfortable, regardless of the reason? Why can't his coworkers accept that he does not want friends and just do their work, not addressing him for anything not work related? Yes, him not being comfortable around women is a problem, but he is already working on that with a therapist. Why does everybody in an office have to act as if they are one big family or group of friends? Just leave the man alone!

The story about being uncomfortable being around women. Now, seeing how he has therapy and everything but is still uncomfortable. He has a right to tell them im sorry but could u leave me alone please. I dont feel comfortable. She is making it her “mission” to befriend him. That is workplace harassment. When he said i dont want to be ur friend. He means it. It is ok him yes, but seriously. He has a right to not want to work around her specifically or even be harassed by her. If it was a woman and the guy wants to befriend her. Yall would be saying hey, tell hr about his harassment. He should do the same.

Story 3: OP does not need to befriend anyone or want to talk to anyone. No means No. No is a complete sentence. These are things commonly drilled into men by women to show that consent matters. So why is it when a man does this, it is typically seen as an issue? Stop with the bulls*it. OP said no. She is not listening. She is harassing him. And AITJ is basically endorsing this harassment.

Story 3 - That lady is the jerk, not the poster. The OP was cordial and proffessional and able to work with women if he needed to, which is all you can ask from people you work with. That woman had the situation explained to her and then went OUT OF HER WAY to ignore it and be extremely pushy with him. In fact got MORE pushy with him after knowing the problem. Fuck that behavior. She had a boundary expressed to her and ignored it, trying to force her will on this guy. The way she reacted after she had the boundary expressed to her again is very telling. She's in the wrong. OP knows his issues, works on them, and is able to work with her. Your coworkers are NOT obligated to be your friend or interact with you outside of the job context.

For story number three you have to understand that this person is not obligated to interact with anybody. And well yes he did say he was uncomfortable around women You did not say that it impact his ability to do his job. Him saying that he wanted to keep their interactions specifically professional does not make him an asshole. I also feel that if the genders on that story were reversed the presenter would have a completely different opinion on the matter.

Unless I knew you before and I am friends with you.

Story #3: It sounds like the female co-worker is harassing the OP. The OP is not misogynistic, this chick just can’t handle rejection so she lashed out at him. The OP is absolutely not the jerk. Also, he should go to HR and let them know what’s goin on in addition to talk to his supervisor to insure that he will never be put in the field with this lady. I would get ahead of this because he does not want to get “me too’d”. The reader is so so wrong, because he wasn’t listening when the OP said, “ will work with them but u just don’t have any interest beyond work interactions with them.” YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE FRIENDS WITH YOUR CO-WORKERS. The OP does have issues but it has nothing to do with situation. The female just can’t take rejection. She brought this on herself. This is harassment.

Last story. I feel like this might be in everyone lose situation. Understand where the wife is coming from who knows if she really only calls multiple times if it's emergency I've known people that will call multiple times just for something silly just because somebody isn't answering . And if that had happened to him before where he ignored a couple calls and then finally answered and then it was something unimportant. I feel like that would change this dynamic a lot . For me personally I don't always answer my phone for my wife especially when I'm at work my phone is off while I'm working because I work in a factory can't have the phone on the floor anyways and if I'm on break well I mean that's my break so whether I answer or not it's not an emergency if it's an emergency I tell my wife to call my work because 90% of the time my phone is off anyways they have a specific line to call for emergencies. I feel like most likely he doesn't realize it's an emergency maybe try texting him 911 then I'm sure he would probably have answered

Story 3: You gave a terrible response. If someone is uncomfortable with another gender due to trauma, it is completely understandable, and she did have ill intent as the friend clearly stated that he was uncomfortable around women, and even after that, she overstepped her boundaries and saying that "mental health is your problem " is a horrible response to because people have friends girlfriends boyfriends family that may be affected by this and is not just there problem he is uncomfortable and doesn't like how she keeps making advances to be friends and yes there will always be women in this type of work or any for that matter but he clearly stated he will help in the field as it is work but he doesn't want to make friendships that is his business and saying it's a "serious problem" is literally ignoring his wishes and feelings

I have the same issues has the last story. My boyfriend always has his ringer off, and there have been times when I really needed him. One being when we weren't going to be able to make the mortgage. I needed his approval to refinance our joint loan to get the $100. We were short. The second, and most recent and most scary time was when I was in the next city over, and my car broke down. Down. My work is food delivery in my personal car, and it broke down after making a drop off. It would not start, and I was in the middle of the road. I had to push it up a hill a bit and around the corner to get it out of the road enough. No one was helping me despite there being at least three people in their yards within view. I sat there panicking and crying and calling my boyfriend several times, but he didn't answer. I finally decided to try and " Pop the clutch" my automatic, and it finally worked. Let's just say he didn't get dinner that night. He could have made it himself, but he said it was one of my chores.

I use three to four dollies at a time if things get way to hairy or two for the constant flow and knowing minor strapping machine maintenance helps a lot to. Bro, no one is entitled to anyone friendships. If the op doesnt want to be friends with someone, he is well within his rights to do so. That woman is so entitled that she thinks if someone doesnt want to be her friend do to their mental issues, they must be a misogynist.

While I dont have that much of an extend of not wanting to be around women, I think OP was right. Even if Gender wasnt involved it should be okay to demand personal distance. You are not entitled to know someone that doesnt want to know you (for whatever reason).

What the guy did in the first story was highly illegal and if I ever find out who he is I will be reporting him to the police. I know the boyfriend is a piece of s*** but you know what that piece of s*** still has rights.

After I watched the STORY 3 about that man who doesn't feel comfortable around women, I find that the biggest jerk here is actually the narrator describing his opinions. He uses the good ol' double standard to basically say to the OP that he should "man up" without explicitly saying so. Being the roles reversed and this would be a woman after some horrible assault from a man I personally think that the narrator would have been much more understanding. OP never said that he got some "triggers" that’s narrator’s invention. He is actively seeking help a try to better himself to the extent that he even acknowledges the coworker shouldn't be punished and that this situation is his fault. Why his feelings aren't valid in this situation? Why aren’t his boundaries and choices respected? Even if it would seem to us weird at face value.

ya no if he tells her to leave him alone then she need to back the fuck up he is there to work he doesnt have to be friends with her so he is not in the wrong at all and he doesnt need to fix that cuz as he has said he is fine working with them in and only in a work setting she is the only one in the wrong cuz he already told her to leave him alone and that he doesnt want to be friends

Omg, that last story, i think the husband was lying about what the therapist said about her!! Like seriously, if my family calls me multiple times, there's something wrong!!!!! He should DEFINITELY be more considerate of his wife, ESPECIALLY!!!! And he's intentionally NOT ANSWERING, like who cares if you're eating lunch with a friend, answer your damn phone ESPECIALLY when the wife calls!!! He might be doing things he's not suppose to, though!!!

For the story about being uncomfortable being around women he’s not the jerk and he explained that’s he’s already in therapy kinda weird how he says the women who is “supposedly” bother him I feel if the roles were reversed it would be a whole different situation

On the first story the main listen to learn here is don't mess with somebody who is or happens to know an IT person because it could backfire Big Time On You because if you know what an IT person and happened to be friends with them then that party person that can get revenge on that person's behalf. As for the the other story with the female co-worker and being uncomfortable around female co-workers yes it can be unavoidable but I don't think the original poster is all being a jerk or unreasonable because they essentially asked really nicely for that female co-worker to leave them alone and she made it her mission despite knowing the situation to try on multiple occasions from what it sounds like to actually befriend this individual when they ask nicely for her to please stop. The female co-worker in this case was being a bit of a jerk because essentially when somebody asked you nicely to please not do something in a work setting mind you and you go ahead and do it anyways and keep bugging them of course the phone is on the person who is being insistent despite being told please to leave them alone.

Story two I think with boxes on the belt. Hubby n I do this job. Love it. Story after that, trying to avoid a female…. I’m a female that tried to get my position moved because of a female and got fired from it. She was a slut and had her way with everyone. Hr didn’t like me asking to move. She was told by her fav manager that I was complaining. She went to hr because she was afraid to get caught. So she lied. I got fired and hr never looked at the video of her coming at me or all the times she was kissing drivers in their trucks.

I like the other narrators better than this one tbh. There’s just some of his two cents that I find very absurd. I’m societally seen as a woman, and I think the woman that was trying to force OP to be her friend was the weird one. OP was being respectful, saying he tries to power through his fear when with women for professional situations and it’s not like he’s being degrading towards the women in his workplace. I think the newer narrator is better because he has a less judgmental vibe and genuinely tries to see both sides, rather than be on the offense towards one side. He seems to be very understanding vs this narrator who kind of jumps on poor OPs or whoever else in the story. It’s kind of jarring sometimes and I really feel like that type of attitude with these stories only push people to have a black and white view in situations that are gray (see recent American politics since 2016).

What the hell is wrong wih the narrator? Story 3 he totally dropped the ball, but this narrator is biased against men so I'm not totally surprised. The coworker was already informed that he wasn't interested by another coworker, yet she decided to constantly try anyway. Not wanting to be friends with coworkers is not a big deal at all, as long as you are able to work with eachother.

Narrator, you are the jerk for calling out the gentleman who had an issue with a female coworker. No means no - regardless of gender. You know DAMN well that had it been a woman with the issue of a male coworker you would have taken her side. Don't be so patently transparent.
