Jake is such a treasure. I can relate to him a lot. But his laughs to cover the traumatic experiences make me want to hug him. I have work ptsd and it's my biggest nightmare to end up in such an environment again. Also the audacity people have to instantly go for "maybe its you" is gut wrenching, given how abusive many, many, MANY people in power are behind closed doors.

Your comments about not having a place to live helped me understand how housing uncertainty in my childhood and later in adulthood has made it very difficult to manage my BPD BiPolar. I never appreciated how the stress of worrying about housing makes it unlikely that I can be effective.

I really appreciate the comment about how having a diagnosis was helpful to start the healing process. I am recently diagnosed BP2 and then BPD after being hospitalized for an attempt. I remember the doctor telling me about BPD and I felt a weight lifted. Things are still sucky and there’s a long road ahead. But it’s nice to be able to recognize my thoughts and feelings through the day to day. I related to A LOT of other things with Jake’s story. Thank you for sharing Jake! Very glad to have found this channel.

LOL, Jacob... how did we have such similar experiences? I did call center jobs and had a manager throw a white board at me in the middle of a call center and in front of everyone because I wanted my own email address... and worked in a mental health rehab with a boss who drugged me and sexually assaulted me at a supposed "work xmas dinner" which turned out to be just the two of us and whatever he put in my drink. TBH I do know how these experiences aligned, the vulnerability and the trust you initially put out there when you finally escaped your youth only to find that reality has "victim and vulnerable" plastered on your forehead and you just didn't know... Then you needed to learn to navigate the world, where yes it is dangerous but not at every turn... people will hurt you if your overly vulnerable and yet the way forward is to be authentic (requiring vulnerability) but not naive... that you must master being assertive but not volatile and constantly dealing with the juxtaposition of it all....like walking a tight rope forever and then theres the whole thing of being gay....

Oh wow I'm so sorry that happened to you, people can be absolutely vile, especially when they sense some sort of vulnerability 😔

I definitely lived and learned, tbh still have issues with authority and trust but now I'm older, wiser and get people fired when it's been warranted on many occaisions @@AM-hv1vs

Part of borderline is pointing at other people. No one makes you come to work.
