@seymourglass26
@seymourglass26 4 жыл бұрын
The one-shot is an accident, because in the wild, you don't want to get cute just to wound a bird. In competition, I believe they make you reshoot the round. But he is a respectable shot. At one point, he even waited to shoot the bird when it was farther away, so that he didn't obliterate the meat. Still got the clean kill.

Henlo, just adding a comment on dogs. I work as a behavior analyst for dogs and have worked with dogs for about ten years now, and I'd just like to real quick reiterate the fact that you cannot force 'drive' in a dog, nor can you lessen a drivey dog's desire to do something without allowing them to do it. Brittany Spaniels (i.e. Leather and Utah) are bird dogs, specifically bred to flush birds and are typically VERY bird-driven, even when in pet homes. Just wanted to back up what you guys said and reassure folks that these dogs are absolutely thrilled in this environment, and this is 10/10 what they want to be doing, more so than literally anything else. I've seen pet-line Brittanies (whose owners have never even hunted) spot birds on our fences and immediately start stalking in a point-stance lol So rest assured, Leather and Utah are absolutely thrilled with this type of work, for anyone who has any doubts.

It actually really bothers me when people use working dog breeds as house pets, and never let them do what their DNA is telling them to do. Of course, I have utter contempt for probably 90% of all modern dog owners for not having even the first clue about what their dogs need in terms of mental stimulation, exercise, or discipline. Too many people buy dogs strictly on looks, and never once consider what the dog's needs are, or what its purpose should be in the family. Almost every time I go over to somebody's home and meet their pet dogs for the first time, I immediately recognize how stressed out the dogs are, and watch them trying to dominate the humans around them and get very confused and frustrated by how the humans are behaving. It's such a pleasure to meet a dog that's actually calm and well-exercised (mentally and physically), and understands its place in the universe. I have no formal training, and I've never actually owned a dog, but I've got a good instinct about dogs, and animals in general. I've actually helped rehabilitate a family member's dog that had been rescued from an abusive environment. In the space of an afternoon, I got my sister's pet who was utterly terrified of male humans because of its background, to not only trust me, but learn how to play with a ball for the first time in its life. My sister isn't a terrible dog owner, in fact I'd say she's better than most, but she's not the calmest person herself, and in all the time she'd owned this particular dog, she'd never really formed the connection I was able to in in just a few hours after meeting him. She had simply accepted the fact that this dog would always be scared of men, always be neurotic, and never be able to play like a normal dog does (it behaved like a cat, quite bizarre). Well, I know that dogs don't live in the past. They live in the present, and if I'm calm and respectful, but let them know I'm in control and that they're safe with me, it isn't hard to form a bond of trust. Then it's just a matter of coaxing out their instincts, in this case fetch. Suddenly a dog will remember what it is, and be so happy and relieved to understand what it's meant to be doing. It's an emotional experience for both dog and human. It's very lovely to see these two dogs on video doing what they're meant to be doing, and I know the appreciation from the humans is quite genuine.

@Siobhan, Thanks for your comment ❤️ We have a rescue Brittany Spaniel crossbreed and I can confirm that the drive and their love for hunting is absolutely in their blood. We don't hunt with her but her drive is the reason we can't let her off leash for prey animals' safety 😅

I grew up with a Vizsla (bird dog for those who don't know, closely related to the Weimaraner) who was a house dog, his mom had never been hunting, nor had we ever been hunting with him, and if he spotted a bird, he'd go into a point pose. We didn't teach him, it's just in his blood. And like most bird dogs, the happiest he ever was, was in nature. We'd take him out to my grandpa's land (several dozen acres) and he'd run and run and run for what felt like ever, take a quick break and be running before you even knew it. The happiest he ever was while he was running, nothing else compared.

@@fakecubed Hi, my boyfriend and I own a German shorthair pointer, bred for hunting, flushing out game, and retrieving. I also grew up with a Brittany spaniel. We don't use our GSP for hunting. We never will. Dogs can be companions and loved just for being what they are. Just as long as you match the dog's energy and keep their minds sharp by training and constantly interacting with them, you will have a happy dog. What some owners don't do is match that energy level and thus they get a bored dog, and a bored dog turns into a destructive dog. I can guarantee you our dog is just as happy. Just as you see people having Alaskan malamutes or huskies and don't use them as sled dogs, but they are just as happy when they're allowed to use that energy. I've gotten a few angry messages about how I shouldn't own my dog because he's not hunting and it does nothing but floor me. They don't know how healthy and happy my dog is, and how I spend hours upon hours with him outside, or going on hikes and runs and to regular parks and dog parks. True, different dogs have different needs but as long as you match their energy, they will be happy. Don't get a high energy, working class dog if you're not up to the task of being active 95% of your day.

I’m surprised by the comments saying they love the way this video “portrays hunting.” I suppose to those who don’t hunt or have never been around it couldn’t know that this is how hunting really is. This video is not a unique portrayal of two guys who ~happen~ to have these views amidst a majority that doesn’t. I live in Texas & I don’t know a hunter who isn’t this educated, passionate & respectful about hunting. Thank you, BA for showing those who don’t know about hunting how it’s done :)

I am a hunter gatherer from Hawaii. Importing food in very expensive. Cultivating, hunting, shoreline foraging and fishing is a necessity. These traditions has been passed down from generation to generation. In Hawaii we call this "gathering from mauka (mountain) to makai (ocean)". We utilize every edible part of the animal. Nothing goes to waste and the guts, skin and bones are buried. We only catch what we can eat. Freezing meat is a no no in my family.

They will sneak up on animals and point as well. I have two German Wirehaired Pointers, but we don't hunt (I do shooting competitions and firearms are part of our family history) and have not trained them, yet they hunt lizards, birds, and even garden snails. One of them caught our bird when it got out of the cage, but they were told to drop it and did, without hurting it. They are very smart and very driven. I have a photo of the two dogs and one of the cats all lined up and stalking doves in the grass. Luckily, none of them have caught the birds. The dogs play with balls and frisbees everyday to burn up energy and scratch that itch to do what they were bred for.

One of the main reason i watch the show is the post edits, but by keeping them to a minimum and always when the guns are dead on this episode, shows a real respect for the weapon. It shows that gun safety was the paramount point of this video. Well done gentlemen.

Quantity pleases the KZbin Algorithm way more than quality and I think Bon Appetit is trying to get some major growth, but I think they're going to lose viewer loyalty this way and Matt, Brad and Vinny probably won't appreciate it. Calic Tolentino we’re omnivores by choice and because we’re culturated from birth to do so. Choosing to maintain an archaic “sport” like hunting for choice is unethical. Hunting for survival is a different case but that’s not what’s happening here.

@@BlakeBjornstad1 umm no the fact that we have omnivore teethe. (Mixture of flat and sharp teeth) means its embedded in our genetic codes. Also hunting like this for food is better for the environment than industrialization of animals. You kill what you need, No food waste, and also animal industry is also biggest contributor to greenhouse gasses, by hunting like this were just killing whats already in the wild (and this type of hunting is also controlled by people who run preserves) instead mass production of animals and mistreating them too.

I’m so glad that they went about this so respectfully. They made sure that no animal involved was going to be hurt for sport and that if there was a chance that the bird would survive and suffer they didn’t make the shot. They made sure the dogs were as happy as they could be and cleaned up after themselves (and others smh) leaving the habitat safer for the animals there. I think it’s normal for me to feel kind of upset watching animals be killed but the way they went about it and the way they explained how everything worked and the caution they took to make sure everything was going to be treated with care made me have a much easier time watching and understanding. Even though I don’t enjoy hunting I have a new found respect for it and people who do it with such care. oh jeez I just love brad so much!
