This video is a goldmine of practical advice! The tip about editing in passes is a game-changer for maintaining focus and flow. Also, learning J and L cuts really makes a difference in the smoothness of the edits. I appreciate the emphasis on good audio; it's so true that people will forgive average visuals if the audio is great. Thanks for sharing your 15 years of experience so concisely :)

Love your lessons, Brad. I’ve learned so much from you, especially about workflow. I used to save everything in the Final Cut Pro library and create different events for each YT episode within the Library, which made finding media difficult. A year ago I started to create a library for each KZbin video, organize my media in folders, and leave them in place. Game changer. Thanks for that!

Bro, thanks a ton. I’ve been in the background for a long time. You guys, and you know who you are, have truly made a difference in people’s lives. I started editing from Premiere 1.0. Then was convinced 18 years ago to go Mac. But now, like before, seeing what I want to do with my life now, I have these resources. Usually I bang my head on my wall, desk… well, anything nearby, but you confirmed that I still think as a programmer. I still find avenues that’ll increase productivity and quality. Thanks guys. I’m still pushing to get a true first customer. But, still pushing on. Stay cool.

First off the editing on this video is top notch, I can tell when it’s professionally edited. Which this looks good and amazing. Also, I get that most KZbinrs now only post videos with sponsorship and I get it but it’s so cringy, but I understand money has to be made, but yours didn’t feel like a product you was trying to sell. You smoothly added your sponsons gave a an example of iT. I usually skim through people sponsored parts of videos it’s like watching tv with commercials, but yours I listened and watched Great work

Making Hot keys is Key, no pun intended, are essential/ I have made many. A good one is mapping the Option + ] or [ to G and H , that way no extra keystrokes are needed when editing fast. Just hit one Key and it trims the video from the left or right.
@Brad_West6 ай бұрын
Yeah that’s great advice! I’ve left the Shortcuts as default shortcuts, partly to make it easier to create tutorials, but also, because I have my monogram console where I’ve assigned multi-key shortcuts to single buttons.

Hi Brad, I have an issue whit fcp 10.8. I want to do crossfades between clips for easing transitions, also with remove camera clicksounds. How do I procede? Thanks, for your tutorials, Frans

You can create short audio crossfades by selecting your clips and hitting Option T. Is that what you are looking for?

Freelance sites like Upwork or approach small business and ask to shoot and edit a video for them so you can practice, build your skills and then have something to show potential paying clients what you can do 😄👊🏼
