Freddie was so theatrical and so completely committed to performance it brings a ton of juice to the audience. Reminds me of Bob Seager's line "Ever ounce of energy you try to give away" and he fires energy into the crowd like a laser cannon.

This was really fun!! P.S.... Brian May (lead guitarist) wrote this song. And even though Freddie was gay (he did swing the other way in his younger days).... he LOVED this song!! Now you HAVE to follow this up with "BICYCLE RACE"!! That song is what Freddie is referencing when he sings "get on your bike's and ride" at the end of this video!!! The "Bicycle Race" video is awesome and you'll definitely get a HUGE kick out of it!! It's a MUST SEE for sure!! GREAT reaction, you guys are too much fun!! ;)

Truth is Freddie was never just gay. He was beyond bi, he was "Try-Sexual" as in willing to try anything. He just had a lot of energy :) I imagine if he were alive and young today he'd identify as non-binary or pan or one of those other non-conforming identities.
@tinagilbert89023 жыл бұрын
@@Zundfolge I hear what you're saying for sure!! But to take it a step further.... I think Freddie was against labels. That was part of his struggles. He just wanted to be himself and wanted the same for others.... I think for him.... labels need-not-apply. He was simply a good human being and rejected labels of any kind... just my thoughts. In the 56 years I've been on this planet and the thousands and thousands of songs I've ever heard, this is, without a doubt, my #1 all time favourite... simple beat, great groove, fantastic grungy/sleazy guitar sound, incredible drum fills, Freddy, well, it's Freddy, what more needs to be said, and as always, those amazing harmonies. But I don't think the lyrics were ever supposed to be taken "literally". It's not "necessarily" about big butts, it's about finding beauty in unconventional "shapes". In the second verse he says, "I've seen every blue-eyed floozy 'long the way, but their beauty and their smiles were kind of smooth after a while, take me to those lardy ladies every time." And there are other songs along the same lines... Jimmy Soul's "Never make a pretty woman your wife" and Dr Hook's "When you're in Love with a Beautiful Woman", both of which point out the problems of being with somebody when you know every dog in town is sniffing around them, and worse, that if she wanted to, it wouldn't be hard for her to have anyone she wanted, and if you really want to stretch things, there's always ACDC's "Whole Lotta Rosie" who wasn't a "conventional" beauty by any means, but sure managed to rock Bon Scott's world, and that, apparently, is actually a true story. So no, Fat Bottomed Girls isn't necessarily about Fat Bottomed Girls, it's just about finding happiness with someone who rocks your world. "I've got mortgages and homes, I've got stiffness in my bones, ain't no "beauty queens" in this locality... but I still get my pleasure, still got my greatest treasure, heap big woman you done made a big man of me." If it works for you, the hell with everybody else. :)

As a guy in his 30s, let me say that from what I remember, small butts were never a thing. What was a thing was skinny girls, which inevitably meant small butts as a by-product. Big butts weren’t a thing either like they are now but it wasn’t as if guys were lusting after the girl with the smallest ass. Guys were lusting after skinny girls who usually had a small butt as part of the package. Of course this is a great generalisation so just an observation of the wider culture of the 90s/00s.

And Freddie liked pert bottomed boys as I remember.

You know what they say, Freddie Mercury wasn't necessarily gay - he just ran out of women.
