I couple weeks ago I had 14 inches cut off ( yes I had it cut by a professional). I donated it to wigs for kids. Their wigs are completely free to the kids unlike other popular donation places. Please check to make sure the places you donate to don’t charge these poor families . Locks for love charges in the hundreds, where places like wigs for kids give them to kids for free through age 18.

Brad , I grew up with long hair down to my waist from grades 5 - 12. Long hair was my identity when I was in school. This past summer I finally decided to cut it all off, and when I say ALL, I mean all. I went from 19 inches to a pixie, and I couldnt have been happier. The hot summer days dont bother me as much and I can sleep in longer because its faster to wash and dry my hair in the mornings now.
@SeaUnicorn3 жыл бұрын
I used to have long hair like that in high school and all the compliments I would ever get would be "your hair is so pretty, never cut it off". So my self-esteem was non existent because I thought that I am nothing without the hair. Upon graduating before university I cut it off in half and realized that hair was holding me back and having nicely cut hair is 5 million lightyears better than having an extremely long hair.
@sarareynolds88242 жыл бұрын
I’m about to cut my hair in two days and I’m exactly the same. My worth is completely attached to my hair because with the only thing I ever get compliments about and I feel like it’s the only thing that people see about me and so I am so scared that once it is gone that I’m just going to be completely average and unremarkable. But I’m tired of being in that mindset and hiding behind my hair, I want to prove to myself that I am able to be beautiful and vibrant without my long hair. Your message really encouraged me to stick with my decision to cut it, seeing as these past days have been hell with my insecure side of me trying to convince me not to do it. Wish me luck!🥳

I went from hip length hair to shaved head one day after my husband suggested it because I was lamenting that I had split ends that had gone alllll the way up! I always had long hair, knee length when I met my husband and it was a security blanket, but over the past 20 years, with lots of love and support from him, I've grown a bunch and when we shaved it I felt great! It was very liberating, and I felt super feminine, and it's been lovely growing in healthy hair! Also, my then two year old daughter thought it was hilarious!

I constantly try different hairstyles - updos, half updos, braids from various KZbin videos. That's my hobby, I think it's fun. I have long hair (but not extremely long), all the same length so it's easiest for me to realise the hairstyles I like. This way I'm never bored with my hair, time flies by, and after 6 months it's time to cut my hair and it feels like it didn't take that long to grow it 🙂 So I guess where other people channel their need for change in a different hair cut or hair colour, I channel my need for change in various hairstyles 😁
@TemariNaraannaschatz3 жыл бұрын
I have pretty long hair. I usually change braid styles, colors (I mean, I always go red, but the type of red changes), do curls, leave it straight, try different accessoires, there is a huge amount of hairstyles you can do through braiding. Just look at recreation of show hairstyles like Vikings and Game of Thrones, you actually need really long hair for them.
@Lauraj12053 жыл бұрын
After a certain length I kinda just forget about it and stop noticing it's growing lmao. It's on my back, I can't see it. Then I buzz it/pixie it. My hair is too dark to dye without bleaching and I'm too lazy to keep up with the roots

Long hair girl here. Every time I have cut it short in the past or even just going for a fringe I ended up regretting it. I.m a pretty busy person, when it.s long, personally, it.s easier to forget about it, it.s not on your face, it.s on your back, it doesn.t really bother you. As for hairstyles, I braid it / throw it in a bun. The urge to do something to it usually dies out when I brush it, condition it, take care of it, etc. I think that the secret for long hair is to just forget about it for the most part

I don't know how exactly donating your hair looks in the US, but in Poland you have to do it in very specific way: your hair has to be washed with SLS, no conditioner or styling allowed, COMPLETELY DRY, you have to braid it and secure it at both sides. Just in case some of you would cut your hair in order to donate it just to discover it can't be used because you didn't do it properly ;)

Now not sure if it’s the specific salon that is setting the price or the company, but my aunt normally tries to donate her hair but a few times she has , she was going to be charged. But she found a local place that does the donate and there’s no charge. Here in the U.S. not sure if it depends on the company or not, but my aunt was told her hair has to be bleach, dye free for X amount of time before u can donate, and not have permanent damage to the hair.

I just cut off 15 inches of my hair. It's now at, like, collarbone length. I used to sit on it and close it in doors all the time and it just got to be too overwhelming and hard to care for. I really like how it is now.

My hair is almost as long as the second girls, i could NOT imagine cutting that off but taking care of it actually isn't so bad! I have naturally wavy hair so i rarely ever style it, the only thing it takes a lot is conditioner/shampoo (although i only shampoo my scalp).

Same here on the length - due to the pandemic/other factors, it hasn't been cut in two years and it grows FAST. It's not exactly hard to take care of- I also never style it- but it's getting a bit inconvenient. I've accidentally sat on it, it gets caught in the car door, it gets stuck under my hands or elbows when I try to sit up in bed...I'm excited to finally get a serious trim soon now that I'm all vaccinated!

My hair‘s down to my collar bone (a bit longer now that it has grown out) and thick (I have an undercut but it’s still thick af) and I absolutely hate wet hair. Washing day is like torture for me. How do you deal with wet hair? Do you wrap it in a towel or something? And btw: I’m so jealous! I bet your hair is gorgeous!
@neylax78853 жыл бұрын
I also have my hair almost down to my knee and people always say it must be so much work. It's really not, it's so much easier to put it up using hair toys when it's longer. I only wash the skalp (as you should) and I don't need excessive amounts of conditioner. But hair stylists really don't care for that length so I have my boyfriend cut it. I find it weird that "professionals" are so prejudiced against very long hair. Guess you can't make money out of that. Also you won't get that long, healthy hair using heat and styling products every day.

I’ve had hair to the back of my knees; when I did the “hardest part” of caring for it was brushing, I don’t heat style my hair(even now with hair to my mid back) and braiding is quick and easy. I only ever used a quarter sized amount of shampoo and a silver dollar sized amount of conditioner. I cut it when people I didn’t know wouldn’t stop touching it, literally would walk up to me to run their fingers through my hair(very weird, and for no reason grossed me out). Long hair, as long as it’s trimmed and properly cared for, can be gorgeous.

@ChristelVinot2 жыл бұрын
for me, long ass hair is much easier to deal with than short hair. When I had shorter hair I was forced to spend time on styling it because it would dry in silly and irregular shapes. But the long hair... I literally don't have to style. It's just easy, wash and go. And since my hair is thin, it's not heavy and shampooing and conditioning ain't a thing.
