The onions have been curing for 3 weeks so its time to braid them for winter storage. Braiding onions is pretty simple and you just need a piece of string and know how to braid. Once our onions are braided we will hang them in our barn loft and I take 1 braid at a time up to the house until its time for freezing weather then all the onions are taken in. This just saves us some pantry room right now during canning season.

Jared , son I’m telling you I am amazed at all you do ! I know my Pappy knew how to braid onions and probably knew a bit about canning . But he didn’t do them, granny did and us kids . So it just warms my heart to watch you ! Pap raised big fields of corn and had several tobacco bases and ran his own lumber mill, he was a busy man , like you are . I love ❤️ you n your family

Now with the onion recall out of California they are asking people not to eat the red, white, yellow or sweet if you don't know what company grew them. You are very blessed you have your own to enjoy and not worry over.

Jared, I had asked for you to teach us how to braid and here it is. Many thanks. Bummer is all my onions either got about cocktail size or just rotted in the ground. Maybe next year I can watch the video again and have better luck.

No matter how many times I watch folks try to teach braiding onions, it might as well be just magic. I simply lack that part of the brain that can comprehend how this is done.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! I did not have that string to add support! Very slick and now I see how to keep adding onions. LOL, I got frustrated and grabbed a bunch of onions and just braided up their tops toward the end. That seemed to work as well, but I like the look of your examples better than my haphazard attempts.

Good Saturday morning to you and your family Jarrod! I agree with Janet Crane plus we are seeing mystery vegetable seeds being sent to people via the mail. This same thing has been happening in Europe, especially Britain and it is now known to be seeds sent from Chinese sources. In Britain they are encountering people coming down with stomach illnesses from zucchinis that were started by seeds that were sold in generic packaging. I don't know about anyone else, but it has me asking a boat load of questions.

Fond memories of the 'Onion Johnnies' coming over from Europe on their bicycles and riding around Britain selling their wonderful onions braided like that! Wonder if they still do that? Good to see you using the technique, it does work!

I always buy my candy onions as plants from Griffith family farms in Paintsville and I plant them in March when I plant cabbage and such. They need lots of nitrogen too
