+Aidan James I started skating like 2 weeks ago and was going to drop in on a quarter pipe but my friends talked me out of it, said I should do other stuff first so I don't get hurt haha xD
@OrnateOwl8 жыл бұрын
KeyWar Hello there, Key war. Stalking me? xD jk. About the quarterpipe, been there done that, hurt my arms, and pelvis badly causing myself to stop skating for a couple of days. My advice is get your safety gear on, and hop on a smaller ramp, but only when you're feeling comfortable skating and pushing on the streets. Another thing, don't forget to train skating on the other side, if you're regular, train skating goofy as well, and vice versa. It helps with changing direction in ramps. :)

Your videos have gotten me back on a skateboard after 14 years!!! I’m 36 and skateboarding was a huge part of my life growing up. Having it back in my life has helped me immensely and I credit you guys for getting back into it. My girlfriend has also taken a lot of interest in it as well and I’m teaching her to ride while I’m relearning how to skate myself! Braille you guys rock!!

Many many years ago I rode skateboard for a while, and loved it. But didn't do anything besides just riding because I was too scared. Went for my first lesson today and didn't know what was in store. One of the things we learned was going up a quarter pipe and come back down (with pumps in mind). Really liked to have an instructor tell me to do it, since it helped me get over my fears. After a few tries of going just halfway, I tried going a little higher and when I came down I did not shift the weight so I fell backwards coming down. Hurts a bit but at least I learned something!

Thanks Aaron. This really helped me with transition. I've been riding ramps for ages, but this really got me to understand the body language for pumping. Got it wired now. No longer just getting to the top of the opposite platform through sheer force of momentum. I've actually developed some FINESSE!

Thanks so much for this... just had my transition breakthrough today with the help of this video. But one thing that I noted... finer point -was when I am going back down the push ing down felt like me driving my top leg (the leg nearest to the top of the ramp) and my knee back to the bottom of the transition. That was night and day. Pushing down with equal pressure on both feet\legs did not work for me at all. A better way to visualize is to drive the nose back into the bottom of the trans

This is weird but i learned rolling up and down the ramp then rock to fakie then the opposite of rock to fakie (whatever thats called) then drop in then pump. i could do all those tricks within 2-3 days so i guess it didnt have much impact on my learning curve. also i did find learning to rock to fakie before dropping in is easier because it is a good way to get used to coming down from the top of the ramp and doing a motion/trick at the top so you can picture it that way.

Hi I’m new to skateboarding, I took it up as I have Parkinson’s and after trying other things, boxing and working out, I found these are nit fir me, my son asked fir a board so I got him one, took him somewhere to practice he couldn’t do it. I had a go thinking I’d just loose my balance. I walk into doors and things. Well I stayed on and I’m spared him On to finding his balance. It’s a long story but I have tried pumping in a half pipe, and I just don’t keep going. You make it look so easy. It looks so much fun. I can just about stay on a And turn a bit and I like cruising through my local park. But I really want to pump and then progress. Is it just a matter of keep trying

For some of you who can't find a good place to practice. Go to Google Earth on a smart phone or computer and try to find one of those concrete water path things. They are usually under bridges or by bike trails. Or if you can't find any of those look on Google Earth still, it will be easy to find slopes using the 3d technology in the imaging software.

Yeah yeah that's what I been saying da whole time fakie to fakie,huh what's dat,brah,it how u gets good its useally fair that most people stand with one preferred foot forward,that ur style but getting real good at fakie as we said,40 years ago is very helpful to make u more solid rolling in both directions,and when u see a really good transition skater do some killer tricks and then they roll fakie into or out of a cool trick it really shows they gots it togetter,ayh....pauly....so SMOOTH,yeah dat it...nice.thanks for laying down da facts da way dey should be...remember The KISS method works best keep it simple stupid,no biggy we all had to start out green the better u pay attention and listen the faster u get better,I was luck when I was 12 I met a pro vert skater,and he was nice enuf to help me out and quickly I was doing four airs and loving my new sport of skateboarding but everyone learns at different speeds I had been snow skiing since I was 3 years old so I picked up skateboarding vert very quick because I been skiing down steep mountains on ice and snow since I could walk,almost thanks Braille u got a gift,I ain't sure what it is yet but u gotta gift,(analyze this....Dinero and Billy Crystal.you you your good....chow thanks again,u know if you buy the ceramic wheel bearings for like 150 dollars u would have to pump that's what us older vert skaters do,just kidding but good wheels and taking care of your bearing with speed cream oil helps a lot...u must flow and become one with the ramp,have u discussed how yoga helps.just kidding....piece out...have fun

It's not so much the manufacturer as it is the shape and size of the board. I'd get something with a mellow curve to it that matches the truck width. It really doesn't matter as much as you'd think. You'll get more used to it after a while and you can decide what you want later on. Boards break so get a different kind if you don't like yours. I've had good luck with element and enjoi

jayzupp Amen dude. I hate it when people say that theres a specific size for shoe sizes and crap like that. You get used to any size. But on topic, any brand will do pretty much, its preference really. I personally really like Reals but especially if you've never skated, you won't realize too much of a difference on brands and sizes. In time, you'll develop your own preference for brand, size, shape, construction, ect. Hope I helped
