@Dpqrk dood if you're worrying about looking like a poser you look like a poser. I've been skating since i was 10 and I'm 23 now. never boardslid a rail and im cool with that. Dont skate to meet everyone else's expectations, skate for you. sometimes it gets discouraging. but if you find in yourself to have your own fun with your board you'll never stop. I knew a couple of kids in high school and middle school, almost all of them were better than me on a technical level. you know how many of them skate now? zero. Just skate how you want. If you want to learn boardslides maybe you can find a nice curb or something. or maybe just wait a while learning other things till you get to the point where it might be more probable to get a good rail. but you dont *have* to. as much as people want to say, there are *no* rules to skating and what makes skating for you is completely dictated by yourself. being a skater isnt measured by how many tricks you can do, its dictated by how much passion you have for it and the fun you get out of it. Real talk just bought my first skateboard after not skating for like 8 years. I (sadly) have just broken my enuff board. I was trying ollie down a 4 stair and landed really heavy on my nose. snapped it of course but it lasted me 6 months and for £60 complete, it's an incredible bang for your buck complete. I got the blue stain one and it was amazing. you will be thoroughly impressed

when I was learning board slides I was using a parking curb and there was also one next to the one I was using and they were the high ones and I could do them pretty good but I messed up on one and leaned to much foward and almost his my mouth on the one next to it. my face was an inch away from it

I just want to get in the video sometimes and do it for him lol. There's like almost no risk in committing to that trick on a rail that low. It's almost worse to not just keep you're feet on. He could easily boardslide that whole rail if he wasn't worried about what might happen.

Am I mean for having hoped to see Lance bust his ass on this one? I learned these on an overwaxed parking block - no ollie required, just turning 90 and letting slide - but then all of the sudden I was horizontal in the air, soon to fall on the block right on my tailbone. Knocked the wind out me, but taught me an important lesson: you don't want to lean too far back on a slippery curb or rail, ever.

I am almost 39yrs old and I haven’t been on a skateboard for over 15years. I started again two weeks ago and in two days I will buy such a rail. My challenge? Do a drop in, learn to skate switch, do a proper boardslide, get my Ollie, heelflip and pop shove it back (decent night). I would be very glad with all that. No tre flips or blunt slides in my mind. Just these small things. Maybe a 50-50 find or 5-0.

My flatbar boards life experience was go as fast as you can on a freshly waxed rail and get as much grind time as possible...I never realized to much could go wrong 8 inches off the ground :'(

ive been skating for 7 years and i can 50-50 on a ledge with no fear. i can also kickflip and skate a bowl ok. but i cannot for the life of me bring myself to commit to trying to boardslide a rail. it just seems so scary. like im going to fall backwards on the ground and hit my head or land putting my hands out and break my wrist. can anyone give me some helpful advice on how to actually try this? it honestly seems terrifying. theres heaps of rails at my park on flat, small and big. but i just cant ollie into the boardslide and commit to keeping my back foot on.
