Yo guys, today I'm showing a few tricks that I use to reset your brain when staring at the image for too long, so that you refresh your sight!

My brother used to paint pictures. Once, he showed me a trick he used while painting for many hours. He placed the mirror in front of the easel. And every hour, he would glance at the mirrored reflection of the picture he was working on. It allowed him to gain a fresh perspective on the painting. Since then, I have been using this method myself :)

Makes sense that people use it like that, but now it’s even more cool!

Man this is a hugely important topic. I suffer a lot from thinking everything I create looks bad after staring at it for just too long.

The flip trick is usually the most effective. Another one I use is to put the color ID, cryptomatte or multimatte pass on top of your final image and toggle between layers. This helps my brain better understand some key aspects of color and the level of realism of the image I’m working on

This is common in the music world too! When you start working on the tone of your electric guitar for too long, you start to get used to it. And then you start making minor adjustments, turning some knobs, modifying some frequencies, and when you think its perfect and then come back to it the next day, its horrible xD So the tip guitar players usually give is to work on the "Distortion" tone of your guitar for a small amount of time, like half an hour, and then switch to the "Clean" tone, and so on. Well, seems like our brain has the same 'modus operandi' on all forms of art :) btw, has anyone ever used F1 for help??? :D

Thank you very much It is very helpfull. I also suggest you to show images somebody else before send your client. Someone who is from your family or a friend who isn't relevant. Explain the situation and maybe give you a simple advice you can't see it hours later. Looking details for a long time makes us blind 😀

Oh no, avoid showing anything to people. You can accidentaly start conversation and socialize 😮😂

One thing that I do, I ask my girlfriend to check out the image, and I just ask her if there's something strange in the image, as in if something stands out unrealistically. As @kuzwk said, it might be risky to accidentally socialize :D

When I send an image for feedback, I suddenly see things that are wrong with the image. So, yeah, send them and delete them after a few seconds :)

I do that too! That little thumbnail when you send makes such a difference 🤣, tried even sending it to myself on skype, but it’s not the same effect 😁
