From what I've seen, Asuka being ignored by the main plot has been a point of frustration for at least some Tekken players. I wonder if they introduced that concept, but didn't know what to do with it and eventually shifted focus back to other parts of the series.

The deal with Jun in Tekken 8 is that, after Jin fell unconcious when Ogre attacked teir house prior to the events of Tekken 3, Jun managed to somehow drive off Ogre but fell unconcious/into a come for a long ass time in Yakushima's Temple while she had premonitory nightmares about Jin starting World War 3 in Tekken 6 and what Kazuya did during the events of Tekken 7 and tried to find them both ever since to put an end to their father-son quarrel. On an unrealated note, she is also my Main in Tekken 8 ^^

Honestly, I would say kid gamers in the early 2000s had a lot more than Nintendo. They had Sonic, Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Mega Man Zero, Rayman 3, Crash Twinsanity, and even some Rareware games during their early years under Microsoft.
@V-Jes7 ай бұрын
Heck I would say they had more kids games if they DIDN'T have a Nintendo console, especially if it was PS2 what speaks for itself...

He said early 2010s, not early 2000s. Of those? In Let's check around 2010-2012. Sonic: Alive, but kinda struggling. Sly: Dead. Ratchet: Alive, but overexposed/overused and kinda struggling. Jak: Dead. Mega Man: Kinda dead...? Since 2009, there have been only two, non retro hipster/nostalgia bait Mega Man Titles: 11 in 2018 and X Dive in 2020/2023. So at the 2010-2012 area? Not much left. Rayman: Alive...KINDA. Crash: Dead. Rare: Hope you REALLY like the Kinect!

Dig dug's wife was also from another namco arcade series that I'm forgetting the name of at the moment, so, you could say the protagonist of Mr. Driller is the son of a former power couple of namco arcade royalty. The endangering of animals was kazuya, not heihachi. It was literally the reason Jun even entered the tournament in the first place in tekken 2 since she was part of some endangered species protection organization, and kazuya was experimating & killing a whole bunch of endangered animals. But, I can see how you would think that, Ted, all things considered. Heihachi has done a lot of bad things. Some very bad things.

"Where's the Street Sharks remake?" I dunno. WHERE'S MY EXTREME DINOSAURS REMAKE?!
@TheCynicalGhost7 ай бұрын
I'm personally mixed on having an fuck ton of remakes. On one hand it is nice getting games easily accessible and they're just kinda cool, but on the other hand I am someone that thinks discussing remakes especially when you compare to the original game, gets people's jimmies rustled to a toxic degree. I just wish that more remakes didn't essentially delete the original releases out of existence because the intent of the product is inherently always just gone when a remake happens. And I know it's ridiculous but I just think there is anything wrong with something just being old and approaching it on its own terms than just wanting a new modern version. Tekken's core lore is awesomely absurd which leads to some really dumb stuff. I'll be honest I think people overhype Asuka's potential role. Her ending of purifying the devil thing ends with Jin falling on her chest, and her introduction stemmed from fighting Feng for destroying her dad's dojo. She was more or less always a bit of a light comedy character unrelated to Jin's antics. Even in Tekken 8 she doesn't know who Jun is, so they're probably from the same clan but they don't know each other at all. I wouldn't be opposed to any plot relevance, but as little concept as there was in Tekken 5, it was clearly passed up so early on I think there's little point in getting butthurt about it now. And after the 2D characters in Tekken 7, Tekken x Street Fighter just sounds like a mistake in hindsight, even if it would've been really cool. lol

They're making a new reboot of Biker Mice from Mars, which is cool and all (new show, new comic, new action figures, etc), but it pisses me off because it's the third time the show was given prominence, second time it was brought back, and in that time we still have yet to have any news on a possible Swat Kats the Radical Squadron revival, despite the kickstarter for it being banger. Also, Lewis, the Street Sharks, last time I saw them, were made into those rubbery MUSCLE figures, which is okay, I guess. At least these series have potential for revivals; Road Rovers will never be up for one, because of a lawsuit by some douchebag who claimed it ripped off his concept for a show that never came to be, and is now locked in legal hell, as a result.
@jeremyadkins96657 ай бұрын
Also, Ted, Beast Wars was initially hated by fans, because of the switch to organic-looking animals rather than vehicles and mechanical things, but it did become one of the best series out there, and revived the franchise thanks to its story, emphasis on characterization, and the innovations done with articulation for the figures. It's still widely considered one of the best series out there for a non-G1 purist. Its sequel, Beast Machines, however, was considered too dark and gritty, had too many character derailment moments, and the Maximal figures were, for the most part, atrocious compared to the Vehicon figures. It was the failure of Beast Machines that canned its sequel, Transtech, and forced the series to be Japanese-made, for a while (as in, the cartoons were being made in Japan, with the first Robots in Disguise and the Unicron Trilogy of Armada, Energon, and Cybertron). Then the Michael Bay films came, and split the fandom more.
@Volvagia19277 ай бұрын
Yeah, I looked it's been nine years since they did that kickstarter and it's been two years since the last update. Dead and they don't want to say anything, I'd bet.
@GoGojiraGo7 ай бұрын
Beast Wars basically saved Transformers from being sent to the dustbin of history. The toyline and the show rewrote and revitalized the franchise and kept it going strong until the Unicron Trilogy took over, and then the Movieverse catapulted the franchise to worldwide juggernaut status and has been going strong since.
@DevasiaMentalityGaming7 ай бұрын
Not really, the franchise has been dying a slow death for over a decade at this point with the movies doing progressively worse and worse, TV shows that are painfully mid, and a split focus in the toyline that leaves said shows with little more than bare bones support while the collector lines eat away at the budget with constant redos of the same characters over and over again. Let's also not forget that outside of Transformers Hasbro has been absolutely tanking every other brand they've gotten a hold of.
@papershadow7 ай бұрын
Beast Wars revitalized the IP but it's amazing how fast -Namco- Hasbro (almost) squandered that momentum with Beast Machines and some low quality toy lines before things picked up with some shows like Armada and Animated alongside the Bayformers movies (which low quality or not did gangbusters for the IP financially and for Merch material) Best I can tell the current state of Transformers stuff is mixed and the figures have a lot of problems with being either cheap designs or aimed at collectors more than kids, but with some of the stumbles Transformers has had overall it took some massive hits to get it to where it's been and last this long even with that questionable reception

To answer your question Beastwars saved transformers cause G2 and machine wars were flops. Beastmachines which is the sequel and toyline was devisive ,but most of its toys weren't doing well due to starwars phantom menace at the time and Transformers RID was both a graveyard of reused toylines with a few new ones which were decent.

Yeah, Tekken in a nutshell can be considered the biggest round(s) of happy slaps ever hosted by the pettiest family in Japan, practically the whole world! Though I don't play Tekken (I honestly get my ass handed to me when it comes to most fighting games, I'm about as basic as Smash), I do like watching others duke it out in it, King is someone I love to watch go to work... u////u (And IMO, is honestly the most innocent in the entire franchise IMO, I know there's Xiaoyu, bless her heart and her ideals+intentions, but she seemed too cliched for my tastes, IDW but I always found King much more appealing and his goal being so noble IMO) And also off-topic, with my PFP being Beelzemon (💪u///u💖) from Digimon, it's weird and funny at the same time that Tekken is canon in the world of Digimon... and Pokemon as well, technically speaking!

I would rather PORTS come to modern platforms that remakes, or the remakes have the original game present. Without the original game the history of a game gets diluted to the often half-baked effort to remake it with modern sensibilities visually, musically, mechanically and so on. It doesn't live on in these remakes it gets slightly altered and that's not good preservation and accessibility to me, like slightly altering your moms fantastic recipe to suit your tastes it's important to at least preserve the original vision next to the recreations.

Tired of people pretending games cost more back then due to inflation. That argument has been debunked many times. Yes inflation exists. But wages have stagnated and now every dollar is worth less, ergo a 60 dollar game now is more expensive than a 60 dollar game then relatively. Plus add in online payments, micro transactions etc and games are more expensive than ever. The games should cost 70 dollars thing is a lie and a myth by people who trick people who can’t look at data properly and realise they’re being grifted. No, inflations hasn’t brought you cheaper games.
@papershadow7 ай бұрын
It is true that games cost more in terms of "spending power" than in the 90's due to inflation. It's simultaneously true that income has scaled so poorly with inflation that it arguably is a bigger expense relative to most paychecks to purchase a game compared to that era. The only channel I've seen try to argue in favor of a price hike or "games are cheaper" is Extra Credits, whose arguments were either extremely vague, faulty, or poorly substantiated within the videos arguing for it (they have done it at least twice to my knowledge) Also the $70 argument is BS because it assumes an increase of like 16% on Sales would cover the massively bloated budgets most games are being made for AND would be more impactful than digital distribution (positive, no Shelf Space or manufacturing costs) or marketing (negative because most IPs definitely spend more than they need for their brand power vs small titles/indies having to spread by word of mouth out of necessity). Not to mention, companies didn't implement microtransactions and cosmetic packs etc. because they wanted to keep prices down for the consumer, they did it because they wanted to make as much money as possible and just pushed anything that didn't result in losing money due to the level of backlash over time (boiling the pot slowly as it were). Games could go up to 70, 80, or 100 and several games would still do all of these.
