Anasta's on the money here. Flanagan should have been the starting 7 for the Dogs from round 1. For any of his flaws, he is a genuine game manager who would compliment Burton perfectly

I think reserve grade has been good for Kyle. Sometimes you need to be broken down to rebuild yourself. The Dogs definitely could've handled it all better but I think he'll put in a really good performance against Penrith.

Why do so many commentators go out of their way to praise Trent Barret's coaching ability? He may be a fair halves coach, but he's pretty crappy as a head coach. I wish the young fella the best, but it's I think his coach don't like him. I think his coach has been over ruled .

At either team, his conversion kicking takes pressure off Ponga/Burton. I'd love to see Storm snap him up as backup. Also if Munty leaves.

Not drop em like a hot potato because you have no skill as a coach and you don’t have any nurturing abilities. Barrett is yet to prove he is a head coach. Disaster at manly with virtually the same team that came fourth. Doggies squad is actually quite good this year. This feels like it sets Kyle up for failure & buys Barrett more time. Sounds like Kyle will be the scapegoat for a spanking from the panthers. Barrett is my pick of first coach goneski, in front of Madge.

I think that the reason Flanagan hasn’t played all season was to get confidence in the reserve grade team. He’s been playing good for the dogs reserve grade squad and now might be the time he’s got his groove on to change up this dogs side.

Kyle needs an experienced veteran next to him .. like how the Panthers brought in Maloney. He needs to be looked after to develop into a rep player but Gus would say 'wins' mean more jersey sales and interest in the club. Its not just about letting Kyle play minutes and the results not happening. Barrett to me is good in certain areas but he doesn't have eagle vision (yet) to be able to really identify the critical things needed for success. Hopefully Gus can do that.

Dereliction of care..take a look at Boyd cordner and how many head knocks he sustained before his body said no more, and Luke Keary has also had severe head knocks, and were told the roosters are doing a great job with dealing with concussion injuries by these same talking heads.

solid episode..yes the timing is very ordinary to give flanagon a real genuine fair go..if one puts their dark hat on..it does seem that this kid has certainly faced procedural unfairness this season and he is now being thrown under a bus against one hell of a ruthless rugby league side...His selection is obviously a knee jerk reaction to such an incredibly bad and coach killing loss last week..the drums are now beating for barrett as that big loss against the storm has really brought back the ghosts from the past..i really thought it would be different this year with their roster but last weeks lost was a very bitter pill
