We were lucky on 2 occasions that tino wasn’t sinned bin at the very least. The NRL, referees have a duty of care no matter if it’s a club game or a State of Origin game. In a nutshell: NSW players (Critter, Talakai, Saifiti) made costly errors that kept killing off any chance at field position and momentum. Despite spending most of the second half camped within their own 20, NSW were excellent in defence with even Cam Smith (who has no reason to say anything positive about NSW) praising the guts and commitment of the Blues defensive effort. Despite all the defence they had to do in their own quarter in the second half, the game was a live one until the 77th minute. Kent and Buzz are dribblers. Kenty trying to claim Qld have always been the underdogs, even when they had a team stacked with immortals? LMAO. My sides. It doesn’t matter what happens before and no matter the psychology, the other blues centres get shocked they’re playing. Because when you see a job done better than you, you lose hope of your chances. Also, I reckon, last year, some of the Blues players were excited to be playing alongside Tom Trbojevic. The arrival of the enthusiasm was the missing ingredient in the game. Plus, I think the early kick play is underrated. Ennis was half-right about the game being "sanitised for the fans". As soon as the NRL started celebrating and applauding the important contribution of all of the mums, it gave them a voice and they collectively shouted that they want fights to be banned because their kids emulate what the see and keep coming home with broken noses or ending up in the ER.

There is a mentality to NSW that differs greatly from Qld. I'm not sure how to explain it but this sort of sour grapes type of discussion doesn't happen from ex Queensland players and I rarely hear it from Qld supporters after a loss unless it's about a genuinely questionable referee call. That difference in mentality plays out on the footy field.

Your joking. I live in Qld and they do nothing but whinge. When the blues won game two they were all blaming the ref. Qldanders never say the Blues played better. How about we level up the playing field and let NSW get the next 12 games at home to bring them both into line.

What NSW fans were saying "this will be the start of our dynasty" apart from the straw men invented by The Courier Mail? After Game 1 I heard all these Qld fans claiming Slater/ Smith/ JT would be back to torment NSW for another 15 years from the coaching box and the Blues would be lucky to win a game- let alone a series- in that time- based on a controversial 6 point win. But that's not arrogance is it? That's just #passion- right? Anytime Qld lose it's exactly the same conversations "This bloke is past his best" "This bloke isn't good enough for Origin" "It was the refs fault" "We should've done this or that". I'm sure there was hesitation to send him considering how much of an impact Kaufusi's sin bin had in the second game. But he was very wrong about him in the second incident. Tino has actually done a quality act and has protected Burton from copping a hammering from Gagai. He had four options when he arrived at the scene. 1. Do nothing and just watch Gagai punch crap out of Burton. 2. Tackle his own man, which was never an option and would of allowed Burton to strike an impeded Gagai. 3. Hold Burton's arms down so Gagai could really get into him. 4. Do what he did, put Burton in a headlock and take him to the ground to protect him from more blows and diffuse the situation.

I have posted this on another thread so part of this post mentions Joey Johns . This all started back in 1980 , with QLD fueled up on the absolute burn of having to watch their state getting done by NSW for decades . More to the point , these NSW teams were stacked with Queenslanders as a result of QLD having a lot of their best players being poached from Brisbane & Queensland into Sydney. The Maroons started out as underdogs who felt they had been given a bad deal for a long time . They have never let go of that burn nor have they ever lost the satisfaction they experienced when they finally had the chance to give it back to NSW in 1980. They have passed on those qualities down through the years and it has taken on a life on it's own over the decades . Why do you think certain clubs in the NRL have rivalries that have lasted for many decades ? They don't forget where it started .Not only that , any unsavoury clashes or Big games that pepper the history of clubs keep the rivalries alive. Well the Maroons and Blues play 3 Big games every single year and QLD have thrown any wood onto that fire every single time that NSW have insulted them in any shape or form in the years since . They will feed on anything , including real or perceived slights from fans or a bad rub from a referee. I love that fact that Joey Johns is so passionate , but he misses the bigger picture here. He is not seeing the constant thread that leads us back 42 years . He is not seeing the amount of times the Maroons have won against the odds over the years along with their history being dotted with incredible last minute and come from behind victories . The kind of wins and moments that are nowhere near as common for NSW. NSW got a grip on what it took to compete at Origin level mentally when Gus Gould took the reigns , and they also had the players to go with QLD and get over them . But QLD have never lost that so called X-factor , even when they struggled. NSW certainly HAS had players over the years that have bled and left their hearts on the field . Completely drained and smashed after a Victory AND totally gutted after a loss. QLD has simply had MORE of these players than NSW ever had . Joey is insulted with HIS Passion in the Blue jersey being compared to QLD .Well maybe if more Blues players had his kind of fire , and hurt like he did and does , then NSW would be better off . Fans who have NEVER played Origin know what Full blooded passion looks like . We all witnessed that with Andrew ,amongst others over the last 42 years . We also know what it looks like when it is NOT there in the same measure in some players . Queensland live and breath State of Origin and always have . The Maroons have dug deeper more often than New South Wales over the years because their well runs deeper .

The dynasty thing originated south of the border when grubs like Gallon who was always on the receiving end of great Queensland teams needed to run with that ''oh it's the start of a NSW dynasty'' BS. Then the press started using the dynasty crap as well. No Queenslander I know carries on using that word. A lot wouldn't even have heard of the word let alone know what it means. We love SOO each and every year. We love to win the series every year. We don't. Most of the BS comes from south of he border like when SOO was mooted as a concept by Sen. Ron McAuliffe as we got fed up of watching too many Queenslanders playing in blue. Yuck. Then when it started the southern press scoffed, said it wouldn't last and that the NSW side would eat us up anyway. History shows that it's become a great contest. The best players playing the toughest game on the planet at the highest level. North of the border we banana benders admire true champions like Teddy, Morris twins, Boyd, ET, Brett Kenny, Turbo brothers, Nathan Cleary, Michael Jennings, Snoz, Brad Clyde, Ricky, Steve Mortimer to name a few. Why? Great footballers and honest good men. Never seen them play a bad game and not give their all. Champions. We'd talk about them always with glowing admiration. We loved them more when they wore the Green & Gold. Always.

There's two reasons why Queenslanders are more passionate about their jersey. 1. We genuinely love our state. Not just the origin, but everything from the Goldy to the Cape. 2. There is a massive amount of unity felt by everyone because of the written off underdog status that we've held since the outset of origin. The underdog status is wider than origin though. In our minds we feel that NSW and Victoria feel they're better than all of the other states and territories, especially Sydney and Melbourne. So the passion for us to "stick it to the man" is always there. If you're not sure what I mean then read the Man from Snowy River poem. If that doesn't stir something inside you and highlight the driven passion created from being a written off underdog, then you are dead inside, lol. Note: I realise the Man from Snowy River was a NSWelshman.

Anasta saying the blues “should’ve won” is exactly why they didn’t. Games aren’t won on paper. It’s never Queensland won. It’s always NSW lost. They miss why. It’s not only effort. It’s also game plans and execution and confidence in each other under adversity. They can analyse it all they like, but Queensland played harder, smarter and were more composed. Give our boys the credit they’re due for applying the pressure to force those mistakes. NSW media are Qld’s best asset. And the game was on the line for 78 minutes.
