I just bought a phase 4, 29. Great bow. My previous was a bow tech Guardian, I shot that over 10 years. My first compound. Definitely slower but the Mathews so easy to pull and lighter. I’ll be shooting the phase 4 for a long time.

If it's truly a 4-5dB reduction over the old bow, that's about the same reduction I've measured across the gamut of shooting a 400gr arrow vs 1000gr. I'd say that's pretty significant. I seem to be in the minority based on the comments but I like quiet, they were already quiet, so measurably quieter is impressive. Sure, I'd be nice if they had an easier tuning system, but as an individual as opposed to a shop, I set it up once in the spring and then rarely need to touch it again throughout a season. Would be nice if they offered 80# mods.

This is the bow I would probably go however I bought a V3X last year so if everything is the same except for the limbs they ought to do a upgrade limb kit for previous models. Thanks for your honest opinion it helped me make my decision earlier this year when I bought a new bow

I tried shooting the thumb button for a while and loved it but I’ve had shoulder surgery so it tweaks my shoulder to where I’m in pain. Shooting a finger release is easier on my shoulder. It is easier to draw back with a handheld release vs a finger release. I also find that I anchor differently with a handheld. With a finger release I anchor in the same spot. I like it.

Doesn’t Mathew’s have a lifetime warranty? I keep seeing people asking about this but in their warranty it states flaws in materials. I’m sure if this turned out to be a defect they’d fix this at no cost to you, otherwise you’d piss off a lot of people that like to buy their new bows every couple years. I can’t see them doing screwing people like that.

Mounted rubber dampening strips on my V3X as soon as I got it. The db drop was 6.2 vs the bare bow. You don’t really need to get a new bow. Mathews just split the limbs to dampen them on this new model. Good move for them but you can accomplish the same results on your own if you want. Been doing it to every bow I’ve owned for years. Dang I should have patented it?

I'm not quite sure about the rubber between the limbs? As much as I shoot it would probably wear out and squeak like crazy.. I think I'll stick with my dialed in V3x for a few more years.. thanks for the solid review.. ; After shooting the Phase 4 yesterday I was super impressed with the much noticeable sound and deadness. I may consider a limb and pocket update in a year if the results are positive on how they hold up.. I still dig my v3x

If they can make tires that can last over 75,00 miles, rubber building isolators rated for 60 years of seismic activity, and used as O-rings on space shuttles, I’m sure the small strip of rubber will hold up.

I used to shoot a Spot Hogg Wise Guy and it’s much quieter than the Wise Choice. So maybe if y’all get the chance to test both bows with the decibel meter again shoot the same index release on both. While I do agree as I shoot the rx7 ultra its hard to say that because the price difference. I didn't give that for mine but most guys see the price of the rx7 and ultra and they're eye twitches a little lol
@bigz52622 жыл бұрын
@@bmocaby9747 I shoot the ultra also and it’s such an insane bow! And last year I would have agreed with you on sticker prices but the new prices on the Mathews are crazy. The Phase 4 is already $1,300-$1,500, plus another $700 for the stabilizers (the only thing the phase 4 has). An extra 2-300 bucks for a bow that does everything better is well worth it, especially when you’ll easily save that on stabilizers
@bmocaby97472 жыл бұрын
@bigz5262 that's true I was just talking to my step brother who actually happens to be the main bow tech and rep around here about the price jump on them. I actually had a v3x 33 I had the first one their shop got in and was torn between that and rx7 ultra but went the 33 route because I was trading in a v3 31. Figured it'd be a easy adjustment. Wrong I should've traded for rx7 ultra originally and saved myself the time. And the sad part is the phase 4 is the v3x 33 with the new limbs. Which to me seems a bit sketchy but I may be wrong. The stabilizer I don't even consider that a upgrade. That's just a throw in they added that doesn't do a whole lot other than cost more money. Kinda like the inline sight. I'm honestly more impressed with the Mathews Image they released that has a max 50lb draw still shooting 330fps with a 6" brace height. But I don't see myself buying another bow for a while. And if I do, I'm keeping the ultra to add to my collection of my favorites lol
@bigz52622 жыл бұрын
@@bmocaby9747 good move. I think the phase 4 and v3x are awesome bows but they’re still not as nice as the rx7. I’d like to shoot the vtm and phase 4 side by side for a closer comparison. But there’s no way I’m going to change either. I think the only big improvement Mathews should make is to build a carbon bow. They’ve pretty much maxed out the potential of an aluminum
@bmocaby97472 жыл бұрын
@bigz5262 the only problem I see with the phase 4 is limbs. I don't see that being a good outcome long term. I do agree though the rx7 ultra is on another level. I like the look of the new elite and Bowtech. Not enough to ever get rid of the ultra but id like to shoot them anyways.

Crazy how people think you can just throw everything in the garbage and start right over year after year even when you have an incredible shooting plateforme. Even the name says it, it's the fourth version of the ''V'' series. Other bow companies rebrand their bows year after year trying to convince us their doing something different. Mathews are being honest by saying we've achieved something great the last past years, and we'll just continue to go that way. Split Limbs with the rubber dampeners are impressive, and innovative. I own a V3 31, it is enough for me to switch, probably not. But looking at all the bows, if I had to start over and pick a new one (as a tone of people do every year), I'd still go with them, no questions asked. The Phase 4 will be the most silent, vibration free, streamlined hunting bow ever built. Period. Cannot see how this ain't gonna be appealing for new buyers. Great review guys! Keep up the awesome content!
