We made a square bucket to fit into our floor drain at work, so when cleaning the drain, most of the dirt goes in that, and we put a handle on it, and just use the bucket loader and a chain to lift it out and dump it. LOTS EASIER than shoveling that hole out. We made a bent handle shovel to clean that square hole out as well, using both saves on your back.

Your antique oil jug reminded me of a job I had years ago at a Sunland gas station We had a display of oil cans out front along with a row of jugs like the one you used We used them for the bargain oil that we sold In the back we had metal totes with hand pumps You are not old to remember but service stations use to pump your gas check your fluids and wash your windows front and back and even side windows and mirrors Took your money and brought your change back to you and sometimes a gift or coupon for a special gift you would get for filling up five or more and you could get a set of dishes or towels your choice The one thing I would take away from this Is not all changes are improvements

Don’t for get they wanted tire air pressure checked when the lot was full of cars. Those were the days, coldest job in the winter and the hottest in the summer. I worked at a Standard Oil company in the 70s. Funny story about checking a customers oil, the car was Lincoln with suicide doors he wanted his oil checked, I had a awful time getting the hood latch to work. I asked the customer to check his hood latch before he left, he refused to check it. He was gone about 10 minutes, he pulled on the lot all mad, were is your manger, I told him he was at home, I flipped him a dime and told him number. His hood had popped open and smashed in the top his car, broke his windshield, curled up the rear corners on the giant hood. It done a lot of damage. He tied to blame me, but the company held me blameless.

Just a suggestion to you, If you have 4 grain trailers get yourself in a rotation of purchasing 1 new trailer every year & get rid of used trailer every year. By doing this in 4 years you will have replaced all your trailer by trading or selling a 4 year old trailer when updating to new trailer. A 4 year old Timpte or Wilson brand hopper will still have Excellent value & demand wold be high especially as people see the care you take in servicing them. This would also eliminate the replacement of air bags, tires, lights & probably a tarp plus give you more time to work on other equipment. You probably could sell your used trailers outright with your exposure you have. Something to think about.

On the dairy farm growing up,disposal of trash was by the time honored method of a burn barrel This was fine until the various dairy and chicken feed ingredients we purchased started coming in paper bags. (it was nice only having 50 lb. bags instead of 100 lb burlap or that evil plastic mesh...) There were a lot of paper to burn. It was a wonderful day when we got the container and a big truck took it away. .

why are you adding a quart of oil to an engine that holds six gallons or more a quart is not even down too the add oil mark on the dipstick which when it reaches the add mark it takes a gallon if they wanted you to mess around with a quart at a time they would have put the add mark there. I have seen many Diesel engines that will drop the first quart or even half gallon within a day or two and then never get any lower until it is time to change the oil for some reason if you keep topping it off it will keep loosing it but if you just run it there it won’t go any lower and with the price of oil nowadays why waste money you don’t need to

Microwaves in the trash are mostly harmless. The magnetron inside has a little bit of beryllium oxide ceramic as an insulator that can be fatal if crushed into a fine powder and inhaled. The odds of exposure is almost zero in a land-fill environment. You would have to deliberately disassemble one and crush the ceramic to expose yourself to it.
