This ep was wild! Kim deciding to drive in India had me literally covering my eyes. And TJ's calm reaction? I could never be that calm! Their whole living situation and the attire drama have me wondering if anyone does basic research before moving countries. The whole Yosh “situation” feels like a ticking time bomb. As for Mary and Brandon, that spiraled so quickly. Brandon's money woes had me shaking my head, and Mary's reaction was too extreme. I didn’t expect that whole debate about struggles in the Philippines vs. America. Brandon's attempts to reassure Mary felt like he's trying to defuse a bomb, and the necklace selling idea? Im curious about the concept of Mary finding work to support them since Brandan can’t. It would be significant for their relationship, proving she’s not just accepting his money, and it’s a two way street. That she is as invested in him as he is her. I know Mary has trama with abandonment and infidelity, but I also notice people who see their significant others as resources are also highly controlling and possessive. And while I believe Brandan has proven his dedication and commitment to Mary, the only things she’s sacrificed for him is kissing him, and supposedly dropping out of school for him, which I still haven’t heard Brandan confirm she did so at his request. I’m actually more skeptical that she didn’t drop out for other reasons.

Just watched a doc on an honor murder of an Indian woman who wanted a divorce. Killing was engineered by the husband and mother in law who was a tough old bird. Here’s what I think about this. When you’re in another country and a guest of people from that country, you do your best to learn the folkways and manners necessary to not offend anyone. That being said, if nobody tells her how the fuck is she supposed to behave, she can’t be expected to know every single nuance right off the jump. His mother could be a little more patient. I’m married to a Filipino. We adopted our daughter from there and I had to live there for two years due to US adoption and immigration laws. Mary’s telling the truth about how many Filipino’s have to live. Extreme poverty. Yes, people struggle here, but unless your homeless in the US, it’s not comparable. That said, Mary is nuts. And so far, this is the first time she’s had any input on her OWN wedding, everything else up to this has been arranged and planned according to TJ’s mom, at their insistence. She merely requested that the decorator only use the lighter pink flowers that he already had displayed and exclude hot pink and red, and he said it’s no problem. Just admit you haven’t actually watched the show and didn’t know better. There are scenes with TJ and Kim mentioning how she doesn’t have any input but that she shouldn’t worry and just trust TJ that everything will be fine, that his family is planning and handling everything because THEY want a traditional Indian wedding, and there’s also a scene with TJ and his family talking about how Kim has had no say in the wedding, including her own wedding dress. She wanted to wear white like a traditional US bride, but they say that’s for widows, in their culture, so she agreed to wear whatever the mom wants. She’s participated in their pre-wedding rituals with a smile and wore what they wanted her to for those, even though she had no idea what was going on, then she only wanted to narrow down the flower color from an already-available palette, just wanted to leave out the red and hot pink. Again, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the way she said it. She asked nicely, and the decorator replied nicely that it was no problem. But as to your odd comment about having an “issue” with men, if my husband or son make a mistake, sure, I tell them, and if I make a mistake, they tell me. Same with my daughters and anyone else, regardless of gender, why would I want someone to stay ignorant just because he’s a guy? That’s discrimination. But if you’re insinuating that our ability to behave like adults is somehow a bad thing, that ain’t the flex you think it is. 😂
