Great video, but some important notes about midjourney. Midjourney free plan only gives you ability to prompt 25 times. Also on the free plan You can’t use the artwork for comercial use unless you upgrade to a paid plan, in this case you can use the designs created for comercial purpose and sell products using your designs. Cheers

As with some comments already I'm just wondering on a little technical subject regarding upscaling via midjourney and then Canva. It looked like that Canva's total upscale was 6250px x6250px. From my very limited knowledge, does this not give a maximum L x W of 20.83 inches at 300dpi? This is just a question on how you overcame this in order to print on a much bigger quilt & to educate a complete novice that is fascinated with this subject 👍👍
@ChristopherShaffer1 Жыл бұрын
@firstdibsuk450 there's very few situations where you would need to worry about individual elements that you create using this method. Where you may need to upscale an image is if you're using something like midjourney to create the entire design (as opposed to creating the elements and then combining them). There are a huge number of Upscaling tools available for free or for a few bucks a month that can give you whatever you would need in terms of an output.

I just ran into the same issue. I see people offering dowloads on etys of digital prints that are 8192x8192 and also 10800x7200 like u said..canva is 6250 x 6250 px max ..kinda stuck now
@ChristopherShaffer1 Жыл бұрын
@@doktastrange911 Canva actually allows you to upscale well beyond 6250x6250 when you export the image (at least on the paid version), I've exported canvases as large as 15625x15625. The other option would be to use an image upscaler, something like upscale.media is a great free option.

Hi there! I have a question. Have you seen any of your artwork printed on any products? Midjourney files are in RGB format and most printing companies suggest CMYK format. So I am wondering if you have uploaded images as is (in RGB format) and had good results from it, or if you would suggest getting the format changed into CMYK? Thank you for your help!

But is the resolution high enough to print nicely? That's the problem with Midjourney right now isn't it?

@Ed-by7wt Жыл бұрын
So the images are high enough quality to just upload, without scaling the image?
@ChristopherShaffer1 Жыл бұрын
It depends on how you're going to use it. If you're creating individual elements to compose into a bigger design, you're not going to have much of an issue. If however you want to create a big design, all in one shot, you'll likely want to scale the image up

Hi Scott and Chris, great information and presentation as always. A question regarding using AI for Etsy. In the video "The 5 Niche Selection Mistakes That Will Kill Your Etsy Shop", Chris responded to a question about using AI in Etsy by saying to steer clear of it. To use it as a tool to help with description, etc, but not to use any art created by AI is how I understood it. Has the thinking around this changed? I'm excited by adding AI as a tool for my toolbox but at the same time am thinking long term in terms of building a brand and don't want to bring in potential risk at this point. Thank you.
@ChristopherShaffer1 Жыл бұрын
You can for sure use it for descriptions, etc. The world of A.I. is changing rapidly, as are the tools that let us use it. The newest set of tools, midjourney specifically, can absolutely be used to help you create designs (their paid plans specifically allow you to use the art created under a commercial license, something that was missing from many other tools). There is still the potential for misuse, but much less so with something like midjourney. Especially if you're only creating elements and then designing yourself👍

I have subscriptions to canva, Printify, and Midjourney. I created Steampunk variations of iconic horror movie characters on Midjourney. Steampunk Freddy, Jason, etc. Can I legally sell those as art without getting copyrighted and my account shutdown?

I woulkd say if it's for a movie or other trademarked names or images it would be illegal. I would stay way from those types of images.

Question specific for blankets-I’m having a hard time creating an all over design that remains high quality. I can only make it so big in Canva, so when I put it into Printify and enlarge it to fit the blanket, the quality decreases to medium or even low resolution. I’ve tried multiple ways and looking for answers. Any advice?

You need to upscale the designs from midjourney. Paste it to photoshop and change resolution from 72dpi to 300dpi

Hi Scott..I read somewhere today that if you use AI art in creating products by utilizing a software, you could face potential issues in future from the creators as essentially all these AI tools use parts and pieces of work created by artists to come up with a new image without giving any credit to the artists. I think a lawsuit was filed against a company that uses AI art, I am not sure about the name but if you Google it, it is there…So I am not sure how safe it is for me to open a shop with AI generated art designs on my POD products due to potential law issues in future arising from it to be on safer side..
@ChristopherShaffer1 Жыл бұрын
Although it's a valid concern it's not actually something to be too worried about as the end user of the tool. Using A.I tools like midjourney to create designs is covered generally under the Fair Use Doctrine, if you follow a few basic things we talk about here : kzbin.infoi02N2CExQEs?feature=share The lawsuit you're referring to isnt against anyone who created AI art, it's about how the tools were built to begin with and whether or not that is ALSO covered under fair use. Even though the most likely result is a dismissal of the suit based on fair use....even if it were to turn into something it would have virtually zero impact on the good faith users of the tool (beyond maybe a price hike🤣). Nothing wrong with choosing not to use it, everyone should have their own risk tolerance and that's great... but you should also keep in mind that you will lose out on a good chunk of time using and learning the tools and be that much further behind when everything settles out . My suggestion would be to use and master these tools NOW, even if you're not going to use them for anything commercial!
