The first time I saw Brandi was with my partner in Calgary 8 years ago. It was in a small venue with about 60 people. My partner knew she would hit the big time because of her amazing voice, song writing skills, and presence with "the twins." He would be so pleased to see her star shine and keeping to her core values of love and social justice. He died 4 years ago and Brandi's music gives me such solace. Thank you, Brandi.

Brandi, I couldn’t be more proud of you and the twins. You’ve been a part of my life for approximately 13-14 years now and throughout so many of life’s struggles. Seeing where you all are now is bittersweet for me. I will miss the moments where I introduce people to your music knowing they’ll never be the same once they hear your words. But you all are most deserving of the recognition you’re FINALLY getting! From the start, I never understood how you weren’t HUGE in the industry, but I may have enjoyed feeling like I had the best kept secret artists on my playlist and in my CD player. I can't help but think of my mother's passing when I hear this also. Heartbreaking to think of it as "right on time", but it did come at the end of so much suffering... even though she was always "the strongest person in the room" I'm now left to fend for myself "in these silent days". Love and strength to you, and me, and all the others who struggle with such grief.

I lost my brother about a year ago, the lyrics hit hard. “I wouldn’t have lost you in the sudden time, it wasn’t right, but it was right on time”. Knowing that if he would have survived I probably would have lost him a different way. The strength to have to carry on, even though I don’t want to.

This song makes me so emotional. I don’t know what Brandi was going through when she wrote this, but for me, it’s as if she knew exactly what I was going through and expressed every word so accurately in a way that I never could. My dad loves me, but was was never good at showing it. He had a mean streak and never really took responsibility and took care of me growing up. Last year he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and moved in with me. I took care of him as if he was my child, completely dependent on me. He still could not express love or gratitude, and his mean streak got worse. I gave him some grace considering what he was going through, but it was the most stressful time of my life. I feel like he could sing this song to me and it would make just as much sense as if I were to sing it to him. The lyrics are on point, “it wasn’t right, but it was right on time.” I work at a cancer clinic and was able to care for him very quickly, and happened to be working from home at the time, so I was able to care for him. He would have died very quickly if this wasn’t the case. “Either way I lose you In these silent days.” To me, this would be either to death (he is alive still thankfully) or just not ever having a good relationship because I couldn’t get him to open up to me. “I’m scared too didn’t mean to take it out on you” and “it’s beyond your control, you know it is” reference the cancer of course. Thankful for this song. I haven’t shared it with my dad, but maybe I will. A song hasn’t moved me this way in a very long time.
