The stoppage came with just a second left in the round, feeling inevitable given how hard Magdaleno hit the canvas and his lack of energy to respond.
At 32, Magdaleno, who weighed in at 128.6 pounds-2.6 pounds over the featherweight limit-was ineligible to claim Figueroa’s WBC interim title. However, his size advantage had made him challenging to wear down up to that point.
In the third round, he swung wide with a wild right hand that reflected his ambition in the early rounds-to contain the aggressive Figueroa, withstand his pressure, and hopefully retaliate.
Magdaleno’s left uppercut in the fourth briefly reminded of his prime form before being stopped by Isaac Dogboe in 2018. Yet near the round’s end, he was knocked down by a low blow and remained on the canvas for a while.
The 27-year-old Figueroa, weighing in at 125.4 pounds, typically moves fluidly to corner his opponents, but Magdaleno's footwork and clinching tactics had largely kept him out of danger.
By the sixth round, pressure near the ropes showed Figueroa’s strategy was beginning to work. However, in the eighth, Magdaleno punished his aggression with a body shot and a solid left hand.
Once more in the ninth, Magdaleno struggled under Figueroa’s pressure. By the end, when Figueroa landed a right to the head and a left to the body, his relentless attack finally took its toll, marking Magdaleno’s second consecutive defeat.

なぜだろう皆さん同じ様にフィゲロアの沼にハマっていきます。パンチスピードも速くないしディフェンスも甘く、相手は「今日はいける」と思うのか前半攻め続けるがフィゲロアの無類の打たれ強さて無尽蔵なスタミナで超接近戦の無酸素地獄に引きずり込まれる。不思議だ。
