Moreover, short of being a drag queen/drag king, stripper, porn star, political activist of the left, right, middle, or fringe, or promoter of drugs and crime, other occupations in life absolutely SHOULD NOT be seen as shameful to parents and parents should absolutely love that a. their children are stable individuals in their lives, b. that their children are sane individuals in their lives, c. that their children are mature individuals in their lives, d. that their children are accountable individuals in their lives, e. that their children are responsible individuals in their lives, f. that their children learned how to be healthy independent people in their lives, g. that their children truly followed their dreams, h. that their children did not become political, and/or corporate, slaves without wills of their own, and i. that their children followed their dreams without hurting, and/or murdering, anyone in the process. I think that the phrase which says, "There are too many chiefs and not enough Indians/tribal members/followers", applies here as well.

A couple of fun facts about INFRA-MAN. It was made to cash in on the shows "Ultraman" and "Kamen Rider" from Japan. In fact Shaw Brothers hired the same creature effects guys from those shows to do this movie. Danny Lee who plays Infra-Man would go on to become the number one movie cop in Hong Kong films of the 80's and 90's, his greatest being his co-starring role in John Woo's THE KILLER. Also the plot hole of Princess Dragon Ma saying the clouds will block out the sun and shut off Infra-man's power is all due to the dubbing of the movie. In the original Chinese dialogue Dragon Ma says that the sun only powers "the Solar Ray" the cross arm blast Infra-Man uses. When the clouds block the sun it stops working, forcing Infra-Man to use his other weapons. The Thunderbolt Fist Blast is a separate weapon, hence why Infra-Man can use it on Dragon Ma in the finale.

Another fun fact: The Hong Kong adaptation of Kamen Rider was dubbed and sold in Germany as a sequel to Infra-Man. But the adaptation of Kamen Rider V3 was not, and retitled "Frankenstein's Kung-Fu Monster" instead. The German movie landscape in the 70's was weird.

This is one of Brandon’s best reviews, which makes me happy because Inframan was my JAM, son! My dad took my best friend and me to see this when it hit the States in 1976. To a pair of 10 year-olds who were fascinated with Ultraman, Johnny Sokko, Kikaida, etc., Inframan was obviously the BEST MOVIE EVER! So we lied and said we hadn’t seen it to get my friend’s stepdad to take us to a 2nd showing. A few more lies, and we were able to work the same magic when his father had him that weekend. And then we used a roll of quarters we found to pay for one more matinee when we were supposed to be at swim school. 10/10, would be a lying little shit just to see it again.

Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot/Getter-Robo honestly got ruined by the horrible anime that killed the franchise, like John K. killing off Mighty Mouse in the 1980s. Coincidentally, the anime series of Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot/Getter-Robo was also in the 1980s. Honestly, I would love to see both series get revived again. I would honestly get the people that did the Ultraman or Pacific Rim anime series to do it this time, though, as I think that it would be done justice by those studios.

You're too young to remember but there was a Chicago film critic named Robert Ebert. He listed this movie as one of his Guilty Pleasures (movies you should hate, but love) . One of his reasons for liking the movie, was the villain's name, Princess Dragon Mom.

1:14 Those symbols translate directly as "China Super Man," hence the alternate Chinese Superman title (It should be noted for those who haven't seen it yet that the Image DVD has both the English dub and the original audio, which has a much more traditional superhero theme going on here.) 13:27 These guys were actually seen during the "burning city rescue" scenes (4:17), but so briefly you'd hardly be expected to remember them. 15:31 This shot always cracks me up. At any other point in the film, these skull-guys are shrieking and flailing and the monster is waving his arms and shooting off his mouth. Here, they're sitting so quietly that it's awkward. The professor seems to be thinking, "...Was it something I said?" 17:54 No, your copy isn't missing a transitional scene here. He's doing somersaults through a wind tunnel, and then he is wire-suspended in the grip of a cheesy animation. It's a natural progression!

saw that in Saskatoon around 1982 or 83. We were in the big city for shopping, and my mom had my older brother and i go to see a movie while she did her shopping. I was maybe 9 years old....and this movie blew my fucking mind. i still love it. And by the way, Shaw Brothers did some amazing kungfu flicks that you oughta review. For example, FIVE DEADLY VENOMS, and the part 2 called CRIPPLED AVENGERS. The cinematography is worth it, alone....but the kungfu is mental.too...

This is one of my favorite bad movies, and it was the first Brandon Tenold review I watched (came for it specifically). When you posted the first half of the Godzilla: Final Wars review (another of my favorite bad movies), I had to come back and watch this again. For the record, I actually saw this in a theater when I was about 12 years old, and it was the most awesomest thing I'd ever seen.
