Im not surprised. The A12 bionic chip was designed for gaming. The bionic series in general was designed for gaming since it uses a way more developed graphics accelerator. Other than that it’s just a good phone. I just wish the price point was also good

I upgraded from a 7 Plus to XS Max. The speed difference isn’t that big. Goes to show how beastly apple chips really are. Big difference is OLED screen, INCREDIBLE camera. (Not even close 7 Plus, sorry). Smartphones are kind of plateauing with “features”, so now it’s the software that needs to be made to use the raw power these Apple phones are capable of.

in the lock screen camera test there is no issue with focusing in 7plus because if you slide the lock screen even halfway the camera will be opened and before you have completed your speech the 7plus camera is focused

What about playing an actual game? Like playing Fortnite? That is the big diff. I have a 7 Plus and I fucking love it. However, iOS 11 killed it and 12 is still not good enough. Graphics chip is getting older and cannot push games as well as it was before, we all understand why. That’s a big advantage that you will get. Also the XS screen looks incredible. But it is worth to pay $1000 just for better graphics and better screen? Not in my opinion.

They are so neck in neck in speed because both chips are still technically dual core and the a12 has 4 efficiency cores that kicks in with the 2 performance ones when a task demands constant power compared to 2 efficiency cores on the a10. We’ll see a difference when Apple finally ads a 3rd performance core

What many people doesn't seem to understand is that it isn't about how fast a game opens that count is about FPS and it's consistency while playing on high graphics which modern iphone will always have above older phones. I have an iPhone 6s and my wife has the 7 and I wouldn't consider the 7 just because she has pubg mobile limited to ultra settings meanwhile an iPhone 8 can go as high as extreme FPS locked at 60fps. Which to me is more than enough reason to upgrade to the iPhone 8. Consistency in FPS with high graphic is what made me change from Android to an iPhone 😭

Just upgraded to the XR from the 7+. The only thing that’s downgraded is screen resolution and no 3D Touch. Everything else is so much better. And if I’m being completely honest, screen resolution isn’t affected much, since the XR still has a high pixel density. It was well worth the upgrade.

I’ve owned the 7+ ,8+ , xr and now the xs max and I’ve loved all of them, especially the 8+. However having owned the 7+ and xr, the xr is very notable upgrade performance wise. I would even suggest to someone who has the 7+ or the 6s to upgrade to the xr. It’s an under rated iPhone

I'd personally pick the iphone 7 plus over the iphone xr cause of the screen. I mean the iphone 7 plus has a better screen even if it's not oled but it is still a retina screen
